“Uh. Is he all right?” Hanamura-kun asks, staring at Tatsuya, who has managed to fall asleep on one of the uncomfortable Junes chairs. Jun has yet to find an angle that doesn’t hurt, but he’s sitting elegantly anyway.
Jun smiles reassuringly. “Tatsu-chan does this sometimes. Please pay him no mind. I’ll tell him what he missed later; please continue, Hanamura-kun.”

The song wasn’t actually due to the lotus. I was listening to the song separately and then went ‘wait there are parallels to Asura/Taisha in this storyline my heart ow’, after which I cranked this out at a point I definitely should have been sleeping.  And named the series.  Also some steins;gate parallels.
Contains the tradition of graduating high school seniors giving the second-to-top button of their gakuran (school uniform) to the one closest to their heart.

We know Jun’s majorly into the zodiac.
They remember Philemon but don’t remember too much about Nyarlie or anything Lovecraftian.  Tatsuya meanwhile, has been reading to learn about the enemy, though largely nothing of that kind has been spotted in a long time.

Hmm.  I should probably get a Tatsuya icon, seeing as he's my favorite Persona protag and all... (really tempted to just...do that.  right now.  despite the fact I don't have the time to be doing this.  or room on my computer.  If you see a tatsuya icon on this post it's showcasing I have made an unwise if respectable decision).
Update: I did it.  Very tempted to make an EP Tatsuya icon too, but I only have 2 more slots...mannn decisions are hard.

Given that I'm writing this series all out of order, this calls for a masterpost.  I mean, we've already gotten out of order in posting and it hasn't even been that long.
(Also I might join the crowd and do a P5 crossover, but I still haven't played the game and that niche already has a lot of people filling it, I saw.  Diamond is Unbreakable is my favorite Jojo's part; what do you want from me?  We'll see once I get through this, which might take a while.)

This isn't the full list, either.  Just what I've gotten done so far.  Some parts of the dungeon are hard, and other parts are half-finished.

Series summary: Just because the Persona 2 cast didn't lose their memories and the world didn't end doesn't ensure a happily ever after...

series title has been decided & is due to parallels to a certain other storyline (well, and okarin, and jotaro, but options for naming there are more limited).  I'll talk about it in a future post in the series.
I actually really like and wasn't expecting the parallels here between these characters that seemingly have no connection to each other.  Yukiko might have a crush because he's a seemingly cool, collected guy from the Big City, but even after that calms down I think she'd like hanging around him as an adult because here's an adult who understands her due to those similarities and doesn't expect anything from her.

Main Points:
Persona 2/Persona 4 crossover (Broken Hero)

Word Count: 1803

Pairing: hinted Tatsuya/Jun (but it's Tatsuya so he's not too obvious about the longing), Yukiko has a one-sided crush on Tatsuya (as per her story)
Warning: Tatsuya has depression (as you might expect if you've seen Eternal Punishment at all), so no shame if you wait until you're in a good headspace for this & seek help if you need it!  I might not know you personally but I still care.

some themes are definitely inspired by fics where Kakyoin appears in Diamond is Unbreakable, but then, the entire concept of this fic came from that concept + Eyes of Heaven, so that makes sense.  I've read all the ones on Ao3 and they're seriously good.  Definitely recommended.

After something went really wrong (you know, more than the whole 'end of the world' and 'people dying' thing), the requirements changed—what couldn’t be remembered was the whole Eyes of Heaven-esque storyline, so they remember meeting and fighting with Personas.  Tatsuya also briefly got the ability to alter reality himself.  (No, I haven’t quite finished Eyes of Heaven, but lbr after the D’arby fight it went downhill a bit.)  None of them even remember that they’re not supposed to remember, and everything near the finales is a little hazy though they don’t realize.
so they even remember 'we're persona-users and also have a lot of baggage, man, aliens, am I right?' but are mostly like 'this kind of trauma doesn't even make sense in the context of this, Tatsuya just started acting really weird, what'.

Mostly focuses on arguments about Persona 4, but I also mention a lot of different fandoms in the process since this kind of bad argumentation exists.  The tl;dr is: an 'Objectively Correct Reading' doesn't exist, only subjective readings based on your own knowledge and life experiences, and if your English teachers said there was I'm sorry: they lied to you.  There's a reason why different literary critics and literary criticism styles exist--and they can be applied to any kind of arts, from art to film to comic books to TV shows.  So stop claiming you have the One Definitive Reading of the text (particularly when you're just trying to gatekeep minorities out of fandoms).  It just makes MIB and English Majors laugh at you.
(and also write ridiculously long essays showing how silly you are, and possibly swear because dear lord nobody's learning anything in English classes these days giles help i need some tea i joke about the state of American education in Shadowed Suspicion but really)
I enjoyed watching X-Files Jose Chung's from Outer Space while writing this though.  I recommend it.  MIB Alex Trebek is great.

Persona 2 Character Study
Summary: Tatsuya.
Word Count: 130
Rating: Gen?

Tatsuya’s the type of guy who will die for his friends.  He refuses to do this, to lose it all again.  People will think he’s selfish, himself included, but even if he feels guilt, hates himself, has to be killed for the sake of the next world, he’d rather die with the memories.  He remembers what it was like before, being the living dead, no hope, no life, just a seemingly endless existence.  It’s no way to live, no kindness.  They’ll all live and die with him, Jun’s shy smile and desperation to be forgiven, Ginkgo and Eikichi’s bickering, Maya’s looking them over like a proud mother and her “Always think positive!”, Yukiko with her no-nonsense attitude and, ironically, teaching him how to be the best delinquent he can be.

Doctor Who/Persona 2 Crossover
Summary: Tatsuya can't escape his fate.
Word Count: 297
Rating: K

The falling through time is probably all a hallucination, but it’s interesting, anyway.  And then they’re standing in a circular room, with a checkerboard on the floor and giant columns that reach into space.  They’re greeted by a man with a butterfly mask; the face looks a little familiar, but Tatsuya can’t place it.

“Welcome to the gulf between consciousness and unconsciousness…My name is Philemon.  Have you forgotten?”

They’ve been here before?  And met him?  Maybe that’s why he’s familiar, but still, he’s fairly sure he’s never been here, or seen…

Hands around his throat, choking.  His neck is still sore.  A voice whispering that he can’t die, not like this, not yet.

Not before he’s ready to kill.

“The power you hold is called Persona.  It is the power to summon the selves within you, the gods and demons that you harbor.  The self suffused with divine love, the self capable of demonic cruelty…People live by wearing different masks.  Your current self is only one of these innumerable masks.  Your Persona is also among your countless selves.”

That sounds…right.  A part of him.  He’s not sure what all of it means, but for right now…

Vulcanus.

But this entity doesn’t have just helpful words.  He has a warning of something big, something that they’re going to have to fight.  Why?  Of course, they’re the ones with power, but…  “From time out of mind, beyond oblivion…”  And there’s something about “rumors are reality”, but he’s not sure what that means, either.  If there’s something big going on, though, they’re likely to find out sooner or later.

There’s something useful in all the words, though.  These “chains of fate” Philemon mentions sound remarkably like what the principal had been talking about earlier, which means that he’s probably involved.
