some themes are definitely inspired by fics where Kakyoin appears in Diamond is Unbreakable, but then, the entire concept of this fic came from that concept + Eyes of Heaven, so that makes sense.  I've read all the ones on Ao3 and they're seriously good.  Definitely recommended.
also given that you get help yosuke's shadow is not an easy tutorial fight.

Main Points:
Persona 2/Persona 4 crossover
Chapter Summary:
The P4 crew don't fully know what to do with their unexpected aid.
Word Count: 1296
Rating: gen
Pairing: Eventual Jun/Tatsuya (again) and also probably Souji/Yosuke (there are hints anyway)

Jun is surprised he hadn’t lost any semblance of control the second the kid’s Shadow had stabbed Tatsu, particularly with the way he’d viciously enjoyed tearing through it as his enemy.  The kid with the headphones looked a little humiliated he’d helped beat his Shadow with a flower, but really, he best get over those sorts of hang-ups soon.  It’s novel that the Shadow took a different shape, but Jun suspects that has something to do with the fact that they’ve chased a couple of kids into a world inside the TV.  This certainly isn’t the normal way the world works.
Tatsuya, meanwhile, is pouting.  Full on pouting, like he’s the age of these children.  “You can stop sulking.  Really, I’m quite upset with you.  You have a partner now; you needn’t have gotten stabbed.  Just because I have Samarecarm doesn’t mean you’re allowed to be reckless.  What if I was unable to cast it?”
Headphones kid glances between them, eyes wide.  He probably can’t tell that Suou is pouting.  To an outsider, he probably looks like his usual stoic self.  It’s mostly in the way he’s being uncooperative, the fact that he’s turning away more than he usually does.  Honestly, if Kashihara didn’t know him as well as he does, he’d probably make the same mistake.
The stubborn man attempts to get up, but Jun pushes him back down, pleased, as he’d been during the battle, that his strength hadn’t completely dissipated since the last time he’d had to fight for his life.  “It’s been a while since I’ve used Heartfelt Prayer.  Let me at least make sure you’ve fully healed.”
“You’re acting like this is normal!” the kid with the Shadow bursts out, the grey-haired kid eyeing them with the same skepticism, but it seems he’s just about as quiet as Tatsuya.  The bear mascot is hanging back, awkward and afraid.  Perhaps he hadn’t controlled himself as well as he thought—or, more likely, the bear has some sort of senses humans don’t.  The thought that Persona-users could get their powers from other sources than the Persona Game is still an odd one, but given that, for the moment anyway, the grey-haired teenager appears to be the only one with the ability, it appears to be true.
“We better not meet ours again,” his dragon grumbles, pulling up his shirt so Jun can check.  There’s still blood, but it does appear to have healed.  Headphones kid blushes and looks away as he traces the skin merely to ensure the wound is gone.  Jun suspects he knows why, judging from the fact that the Shadow had gone on about becoming a hero and ‘impressing the new guy’, but he suspects the kid is not as aware of the truth just yet.
“If we do, we’ll simply deal with them once more.”  He smiles, helping his friend to his feet.  “There’s nothing it could say that would make me leave your side.”
Tatsuya coughs, blushing brightly, and as amusing as it would be to continue to tease him, Jun knows he’s mortified enough with all of this occurring in front of the children.  “I am Kashihara; this is Suou.  As I’m sure you’ve realized, we’ve dealt with demons and shadows before.  We were called here to investigate a series of unusual deaths—the same ones you were investigating on your own, I suspect.”
The grey-haired child brightens all of a sudden, as if he’s come to a sudden realization.  “Dojima-san mentioned a Suou—apparently my mother didn’t want me to know about him.  Might that be you?”
Tatsuya nods—Jun chuckles, as he can see the family resemblance, though when he does speak Tatsuya is not quite as polite or formal—and shrugs sheepishly.  “My dad…supposedly took a bribe and died.  Probably why she doesn’t approve of Dojima-san being a cop, either.”
“And what about you two?” the other kid growls, almost protective, making Jun smile.
“This guy,” Kashihara grins, poking him gently with an elbow, Tatsu grunting, amused, “…is a police officer in a very specific occult-style division.  I am merely a humble kadōka, but I refuse to stand by as people are killed.”
He’s pretty sure headphones kid mouths ‘what the hell’ at him, which was, after all, somewhat of the intended reaction.  Admittedly, he’s messing with them to amuse himself.
“I’m Seta-kun, and this is Hanamura-kun.  We’d be happy for any help you can give us, especially as I’m not sure Uncle would believe us,” Tatsuya’s…cousin?...says quietly.  He quickly moves to support the dragon when his relative attempts to stand, only to encounter a problem.  While the wound is healed, the energy has not replenished.  Tatsuya accepts the help, reluctantly.
“See, Yosuke-kun, it’s not that embarrassing.  We all have sides like this we don’t want to show the world,” Seta-kun states, compassionate and reasonable, and Jun suspects that if it had just been the two of them, that would have been the only words required to make the excitable brunet accept his own Shadow.  The bear-thing quickly follows, probably not wanting to be near Jun (it has to be sensing the lingering traces of Joker, even if it might not know what that all means) or the Shadow any longer.
Ordinarily, Jun would help, too, but Tatsuya’s cousin is stronger than he looks, and he has a feeling he needs to talk to Hanamura-kun, so he allows the other three to get a head start.
“You need to accept it,” he says quietly, nodding in the direction of the silent figure.
“Damn it,” Hanamura-kun swears, fiddling with his headphones, but he nods.  “Yeah, you’re right.  Souji-kun is, too.  I was so ashamed I didn’t want to admit it, but all of that crap it said—it wasn’t lying.  When you get down to it, all of this is me.”
Shockingly, rather than his Persona evolving, his Shadow turns into a tarot card and absorbs into his hands too quickly for Jun to catch exactly which card it was.  Fascinating, if a little worrying.  Then again—he’d said acting as if all this was normal, like he’d never seen a Persona before—oh goodness.
Jun manages to catch the kid before he falls.
“It’s all right; fighting is exhausting—and don’t give me anything like ‘I wasn’t’, young man; your Shadow is a part of you and was certainly putting up a fight.”  Hanamura-kun stiffens for a moment before reluctantly accepting the help.
“I can’t believe you smacked it in the face with a flower,” he whines for a moment, before grinning a little, exhausted.  “It sounds like some mahou shoujo crap, but it actually looked pretty badass.”  The distance, Kashihara is glad to note, is mostly due to lingering suspicion, not the fact that the boy has probably noticed that neither of the adults are particularly straight.  He’s trying to hide it, but, unfortunately for him, the former Joker has spent more time with distrust than without.
Jun shrugs nonchalantly; he’s been used to that sort of thing.  “Well, Seta-kun was fighting with a golf club.  That’s not a sight I’d expected to see.  Then again, we probably worried your classmate, barging in here after you.”
Hanamura-kun groans, covering his face with his hands.  Crap I forgot all about Chie; she’s going to punt me into next year,” he mutters, not taking a single breath, and Kashihara grins.
“She sounds like she’d get along well with a friend of ours,” he explains, trying to take the boy’s mind off his impending doom, and apparently it works, because he perks up.
“Wait, what, really?  That’d be great.  Distractions work, but I don’t usually have enough beef jerky to manage it…”  It’s a good thing he’d come, Jun reflects, amused by the turn of events.
