I've been holding onto this fic snippet since 2016 or 2018 and you could see it as a kind of prototype to Casts Shadows (obviously I didn't get very far). The thing I think was holding me back was that I was trying to fit Xander into an 'exactly like Raidou the XIV' mould and it wasn't working in my brain. It should be obvious that each Kuzunoha successor has a different take since the second game, because Nagi was definitely different from Geirin the XVII, but for some reason I got stuck. I like that I didn't try to push it because I like the results better, but now that I'm finally giving up on this, I figure I might as well share what I have.
These are extra notes I had. (one where Buffy finds this book about it and accidentally summons a Xander Raidou [though he’s Japanese] working out of William’s bookstore/detective agency. I might never make this one obvious, though. One where they’re all Kuzunoha. One where Buffy is Raidou and Giles is her supervisor.)

         Buffy sighs. Going on the weekend is a bit of a drag, majorly, but on the other hand she wouldn’t have time on a weekday and it’s difficult enough to get away from Giles’ watchful eye. If he protests, she’ll probably pout and mention the Crucimantium, and his own guilt might do the rest. Never mind what she told the others; she’s still shaken. Would Merrick have gone through with it? She definitely didn’t trust the Council after this. She thought she could trust Giles, but in some ways he still followed their orders blindly, and she doesn’t want to be caught unawares next time.
         Giles still refused to show her the Slayer Playbook or Rulebook or whatever they called it, but she has alternatives. Nice, shiny alternatives that Giles himself had sparked. Sure, she might not like research, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t understand its value. If it can keep her prepared for anything else, she’s all for it. It’d be better if she could get someone else to do it, but with this particular topic she’s better off just keeping it to herself. For now.
         Unfortunately, this particular shopkeep is Asian and doesn’t quite speak the same brand of English. She does her best to muddle through with ‘speaking properly’, before the woman brightens at the mention of ‘demon slayer’ and hurriedly gestures her to follow her.

I was gong through unfinished stories and found this. I have no idea where to go with this, as it'd have to go massively AU and the writing of the show started out fun and innovative and quickly turned vaguely problematic (uh, yeah, stalking shouldn't be played for laughs or sympathy) and frustrating so I stopped watching. I'd recommend a fic that does better than this on the trans!adrien front but legit just go search the Ao3 Miraculous fandom for trans!fics they're all good. I smashed that with Devil May Cry, sorta, so it's got my usual 'I have a very, uh, creative mind' twist on it. And I am upset I have yet to find a Half-Demon Chat fic, although for all I know it's been posted since I last looked. The thing is, you could do some really interesting stuff with that if you had the guts to actually do it, and don't give me 'it's a kid's show', you can do some interesting writing stuff even with kid's shows limitations. Like...there's definitely some bloodlust stuff going on with Dante, but at the same time, he has his very human heart. Tbf I really like that 'harnessing the Shadow-self for the good' storyline. At some point this fic *might* come out of alternative paths retirement, but as of now I have no clue where to go so think it deserves that label.

Miraculous with some Devil May Cry inspiration/fusion
Summary: Marinette might think she has it good, but Adrienne's never felt more blessed than the moment a tiny cat-god showed up with a ring that let him be exactly who he wants to be. The fact that the superheroics also mean he's literally cursed with bad luck is just one of life's little ironies.
As the tag/main point above already kinda spoiled it, I don't mind putting it here, since it doesn't really get explained in fic. "Adrienne's" mom was actually a devil/superhero, kind of like Sparda. She fell in love with a human, Gabriel. After she went missing, Gabriel kinda went ritual-magic-badness like Arkham (DMC3) or maybe Vergil, only he's looking for any and all power to save her/bring her back to life/whatever. Basically, he doesn't know what needs to be done, only that he's willing to do it, up to and including sacrificing a city or more if that's what it takes, combining the power of the Miraculous with magic and demonic energy/Devil Arms.
I have no idea where exactly to go from here as I suspect from this appearance alone Gabriel knows exactly who Chat is. He wouldn't care that his "daughter" is actually a son, just that he inherited the strength from his mother which in his eyes makes his offspring a useful pawn in his quest to bring her back. ...Pun was unintended.

I was hoping not to have to bring this up; didn't want to sound like I'm fishing for sympathy or anything, but given that it seems that it's going to probably continue to affect my writing, I feel like my readers should know. I'm unfortunately sick. I had a cold or something during the middle to end of January which set me back, not only in writing but in everything else, and I thought I got better, but apparently not. The Covid test the first time around was negative, and I haven't taken a second one. I'll try to continue to have a chapter out each week for Shadowed Suspicion but everything else might be vastly delayed. I hope that everyone else is doing well and that I'll get better soon!

I have no idea what I was doing with tenses. Which is a tell that it's old. Occasionally I have tense issues for absolutely no good reason in more recent works, but I tend to actually catch it. I have no idea who Death-kun is. Contains a pretty strong absolute lack of any sort of research.
I'm not sure if it's cringe or kind of fun. Both, probably. I have more Kitsune Yosuke stuff, including the one with Angel I have to get back to (I have things written out of order as usual but I'm telling that one chronologically so can't just post it) and one that I have to type up (which I'll get back to because I have no time for that right now).

Fic Summary: I started writing this ages ago and do not remember what I was doing (besides the fact that it was kinda derivative). I do kinda like the concept of someone Xander's saved falling for him, because he's usually the one on civilian duty even in canon, but, uh. I don't think I carried the concept out effectively. If you look closely you might see some XDH (which was written about the same time) and prototype I Hope Tomorrow's a Better day here. I'm not sure how many chapters but it's being labeled as alternative paths because I have no intention of doing anything other than potentially copying out what's currently written. The Shinigami Xander dressed as for Halloween is not Ukitake, but there are some similarities. That being said, Nanashi, the one he dressed as, is a...complicated case, with what I'd like to call flowing weaknesses. He also has tuberculosis and has mastered a somewhat forbidden Kidou art known as blood magic, meaning that as long as he can manage to move, he can draw sigils in the air with his own blood, essentially making himself stronger spiritually the weaker he is physically. He's still weaker physically, and if he's too busy coughing to use the Kidou it doesn't help. He's at risk of getting severely hurt if the enemy gets too close, and there's also the risk that if he relies too heavily on the blood magic he could draw too heavily on his own life force and die. Fortunately, he doesn't have to muster the breath to cast the Kidou, just mouth the words. I had it not be Ukitake because I wanted to play with the blood magic concept. At the same time, I had fun playing with the idea of how the Scoobies would deal with a Xander who could both take care of himself and was really fragile. Spoiler alert: they have no idea and are really inconsistent, because they have trouble with complicated concepts, so they're kind of inconsistent. The Scoobies like to deal in absolutes: Angel is bad, magic is good, I have to handle things myself. So a complex situation baffles them a little bit. (Even Xander, though like everyone else he likes to pretend he's got it under control.)
Marcus, like most of Ichigo's friends, can see spirits. He's also rich, with a controlling family who definitely wouldn't condone his orientation or hanging out with the Scoobies.
Not sure if this is the next 'part' but it's here so I'm uploading it. I still haven't copied out the rest. I don't think. This part kind of ends on a cliffhanger, sorry about that.

"Valen help me, you two are up to no good in the Conspiring Corner, aren't you?" Still, he did what was requested, the movements somehow a little more assured, confident, graceful than she could remember. Though not too much. That wasn't the point of the dance, after all.
         She couldn't help it. She got up and hugged him tightly, crying.

He'd come decked out for the party, even though it had been a while. The two swords at his sides, the one slung across his back, and of course a gun on either hip. Slowly he pulled the sword from his back, reveling in the feeling of danger after so long. "Kryvi," he almost sung, caressing the blade. The absolute longing and joy was like seeing an old friend again. Demon or not, he'd missed the spirit. "Kryvi, it's time to wake again."
            He heard a sound approaching on his right, and swung the blade into a ready stance. Not that he'd stab first and ask questions later. The footsteps didn't sound like the kind of person he'd be fighting anyway.
            "What are you doing, Mr. Hunter?" Ah, he'd recognize that wary voice anywhere.
            "Librarian. You're just in time for the show." He swung the sword back to casually rest across his shoulders, felt it begin to stir and the shiver of pleasure that ran through him. A shared experience. "Just don't get in the way, and make sure you tell Xena that too. This group is all for me."
            "You plan on taking them all on yourself?" Well, wasn't that nice. Despite the hostility, the guy was actually a little concerned for his safety. "That's suicide!"
            "That's a warm-up," he corrected, grin remaining on his face. "You lot can't take stuff of this caliber yet."
            "...And...you can?" Giles clearly didn't believe him. Not entirely surprising.
            "Look up 'hunter' in Taras. Yeah, I'm a half demon devil hunter. And I'm not about to let an army of demons eat Sunnydale and all of the people I care about." He stretched, and then started to walk away.
            It's been a while, hasn't it? He felt the caress in his mind, and began to grin again, this time showing his teeth.
            Yeah, it has. May I have this dance, Kryvi?
            You sure may. Let's put on a show, luv. He pulled out Shiva, holding Kryvi Kala in one hand.

            "What do you know about a demon called 'Shrivnik'?" Spike asked, draping himself across the desk, showing off. At first, he was annoyed with playing the errand boy, but this private detective was turning out to be actually interesting, for an (at least partially) human.
            Instantly, the man's flirtatious, easygoing manner vanished, a frown on his face instead. The transformation was impressive, even to a guy who could literally change his face with merely a thought. Wordlessly he stood, pulling on a beautiful leather jacket that even Spike was a little jealous of with a little flourish. The huge sword was pulled off the wall with reverence.
            "What's the rush, Mr…"
            "Hunter," the man stated simply. "It's Hunter. And 'Shrivnik' isn't actually his name. But if he's in town…"
            "Big trouble?" Spike asked, a predatory grin growing.
            The glance Hunter sent at him was pretty telling, in of itself. Just a crinkle of worry in the eyes, worry about the innocents involved (so, yeah, he does care about them at least, which is…either disappointing, or…surprisingly not so much). The hint of a smirk and of pleasurable anticipation, a human canine peeking out at the edge of the mouth (but the way he's smiling doesn't look right on just a human, though it does on Hunter and maybe this means something). The man may dislike others being in harm's way, and chaos or danger when it puts others in danger, but he has no problem in throwing himself into the line of fire, and revels in the twisting windstorm and the fight.
