Chapter Summary: This is an outline, not a fic.
Word Count: 249
Rating: Teen
Pairing: Spike/Xander
Spike's still really mad by the time they make it home, and can't calm down enough to put words into coherent sentences.
Demon being chased by Giles, Xander recognizes it-too big to handle alone, it goes after an innocent and Xander gets in the way of the sword, which slams into his heart. Giles keeps going, Spike’s devastated…until Xander wakes up again. Takes out the sword, Spike’s panicking because if he’d kept it in, maybe the blood loss… “It went through my heart. I’d have died already if I was going to.” And takes it out.
“Do you trust me?”
“Not an issue. Never ‘as been.”
He changes, to show Spike. Who at first is a little weirded out, until he realizes that despite the different color it’s the same eyes. “It’s still you.”
“Well, what did you expect?”
“I mean, I guess it could be a little…kinky.”
“Do you still ‘ave…parts, luv…?”
“Nope. Dragons multiply like cells, by splitting in half.”
“Git. ‘ow am I supposed ta know? Never met a dragon before, ‘ave I?”
Turns out there’s a lot of ‘should have beens’. Started noticing it with Buffy-all signs pointed to her being next Slayer, but she was never Chosen. Giles didn’t get to become her Watcher then.
Since then the Council have been going through, finding averted prophecies- “Okay, it might be my good ol’ Sunnydale Paranoia kicking in, but I get the feeling that’s not of the good.” Angelus, Darla, Dru, Spike, several Slayers…
