Apparently, Jun had found an old translation of one of Lovecraft’s works and had been writing notes in the margins, as adorably diligent as he’d been in school. It worries Tatsuya slightly, that it appears Jun had the same idea, because some of these notes include how to fight them, and that he might throw himself headlong into the fight when he’d managed to escape, but, well.
Tatsuya has never, not once, managed to get Jun to do something he didn’t want to do, while conversely he was more likely to cave when it came to things like this. Jun very well might assign himself as Tatsuya’s partner permanently, and no one will be able to argue the point. He’d stepped out at some point while Tatsuya was sleeping, possibly to get lunch, left the book behind, and with little else better to do, Tatsuya’s been flipping through, though he’d long ago memorized portions of it and Jun’s notes are more interesting than the actual text, anyway. He’s always been a little more creative, even when it comes to fighting, and while he’d already known some of it, other techniques (gained, Suou realizes guiltily, in his dungeon, which Jun had, with his usual elegant speech, taken to calling the ‘Fragile World’) would actually be incredibly useful.
So Tatsuya’s actually fully awake by the time Eikichi and Miyabi-chan arrive. “No fear, Michel is here!” Eikichi announces himself, and that actually makes Tatsuya laugh. “That’s rude! If that’s going to be your attitude, I’m just going to turn right back around!”
“It’s good to see you both,” Tatsuya admits, setting the book aside.
“We may be smuggling in homemade cooking, but apparently you can keep a secret.” Miyabi-chan places a bag on one of the seats. Given her sense of humor about the thing, it’s probably not meant as a dig?
“So, I know I was bad about believing things when I was a kid, but I’d like to think I’d gotten better by the end of it, right?” Eikichi asks. He’s probably been feeling guilty about it.
“I was more worried that if anyone remembered, it’d start to undo everything. Maya remembering started making her wound return, and when we met in the laboratory, you’d started to catch on.” He’s come a long way since the self-obsessed “Undie Boss” he’d been in high school.
Eikichi frowns. “...I...actually vaguely remember that? What, did you just smash our memories from both worlds together and hope they didn’t clash?”
“It...sort of.” He doesn’t really have a better explanation, mostly because he doesn’t actually know every detail. It wasn’t quite that crude, but he doesn’t have the words for it and can’t quite access all the associated memories anyway.
“How we made it through with you as leader, I’ve got no clue.” As rude as that sounds, it’s probably nostalgia. It still makes Tatsuya flinch a little internally, but he doesn’t seem to be broadcasting his emotions for everyone to see out here in the real world, at least. “So that’s not an issue anymore?”
“Igor confirmed it was fine,” Tatsuya reassures him, and then a thought occurs to him. “Make sure to find and sign Hanamura-kun’s album before you leave. It’ll make his day.”
“Well, of course I have a fan.” Some of this display, Tatsuya’s fairly sure, is for his and Miyabi-chan’s amusement. “You’ve at least got every album, right?”
Tatsuya hesitates, because sure, he’s listened, but… “I don’t have a CD player at home,” is what he feels comfortable in saying.
Eikichi grabs his chest theatrically. “Please tell me you at least have a portable CD player!”
“Had. Accidentally left it behind in a hotel once.” He still feels irrationally guilty about that every time he remembers.
Eikichi pats his arm and stands, restless as ever. “Well, don’t fret. This star is gonna make sure you have the means to properly listen, since you didn’t actually ever follow through and join the band!”
“Enjoy the meal!” Miyabi-chan suggests, and then they’re gone, too. The similarities to Lisa are amusing, but he’s never going to tell either of them. He is rather curious about what they brought, though...
