           Getting everyone off the streets is a little more difficult than expected, particularly when Sunnydale syndrome exists and nobody thinks anything’s wrong, ever.  Still, the cover of ‘gangs on PCP’ had worked for them this time.  Telling everyone that darkness demons were going to eat anybody outside after nightfall doesn’t work, but warning everybody of roving gangs seems to be doing the trick.  They’re all busy running around getting everyone off the streets, but there are a couple who just aren’t.  The most noticeable is an older man in a really flashy suit that doesn’t look like it should ever be worn in Sunnydale.  He looks like he’s trying to find something, but there shouldn’t be any draw for a guy like him in town.
           “Sir, you really—shouldn’t be here,” Buffy trails off as the businessman turns around and looks awfully familiar.  Older than he should be, but that really looks like—
           “I told them we should’ve taken that right miles ago,” the man jokes, which is when she knows this isn’t a hoax.  This is the real deal.
           Only Xander jokes so badly in the face of peril.

I was hoping not to have to bring this up; didn't want to sound like I'm fishing for sympathy or anything, but given that it seems that it's going to probably continue to affect my writing, I feel like my readers should know.  I'm unfortunately sick.  I had a cold or something during the middle to end of January which set me back, not only in writing but in everything else, and I thought I got better, but apparently not.  The Covid test the first time around was negative, and I haven't taken a second one.  I'll try to continue to have a chapter out each week for Shadowed Suspicion but everything else might be vastly delayed.  I hope that everyone else is doing well and that I'll get better soon!

most of the time, he's good.  he behaves.  he doesn't feed the paparazzi with much more than a cheerful, distracting smile and cheerful words. half of it's for himself.  if you only knew, kristoph whispered in his ear, if you only knew what could happen, if they got what they wanted.  they're rabid, bruder says.  they'll tear you apart.  half of it's for his audience.  some are impressionable, and would mimic their idols in every sense of the word.  and anyway, what sort of man would he be, if he was a hypocrite?

         She couldn't help it.  She got up and hugged him tightly, crying.

         “Oh, I don’t know,” Evie answers, grin sly.  “I think the good Doctor already has his eye on a different Frye.  I wouldn’t want to interpose.”
         Jacob starts coughing uncontrollably, cheeks slightly tinted red, and even John feels a slight blush gracing his cheeks.
         Evie rolls her eyes, amused.  “Jacob Edward Frye, if you thought your flirtations were subtle, I really despair of your skills as a proper Assassin.”
