I got real life in my iso fic. (warning: covid mention)
Shunsui and Shun Akiyama actually do have a lot in common, personality-wise. It’s kind of a cool coincidence. (He is, by the way, lying about the origin of the name, but it’s a story he came up with while he was creating the character.) Early Shunsui also has things in common with early Tony Stark—desperate and almost angry to prove himself against his father and everyone else who thinks he can’t do it, but also living down to their worst expectations.

         When Evie hears swearing, she decides to glance inside the carriage and finds her brother writing.  The sight is so odd that she finds herself staring.
         Eventually, he feels her gaze and turns to look, frustration apparent.
         He sighs.  “I decided that it would be a good thing to teach the children to read and write—you’d be good at that part, but speaking from experience, if there’s nothing you’re motivated to read…”
         She finds herself smiling.  “So, what, you decided to provide the material?”
         “I would’ve just given them some of my penny dreadfuls, before Greenie pointed out that even if people die the amount of blood is perhaps not suited.  So I decided to adapt them, perhaps add a few of my own, but you know I’ve never liked writing…”  His expression is miserable as he rests his head gently against the stack of books.
         She laughs.  “I’ll help—and you know the children will greatly appreciate it.”
         That brings a smile and some of his enthusiasm back.

I just found this hanging out in the ‘to finish’ part of my documents.  Written before DMC5, may have been jossed.  I haven’t seen DMC5 yet, mainly because I’m trying to decide whether I want to play it blind as soon as I buy a PS4 or am too impatient and want to watch someone else play for now.
Refound again and it was still not finished.  Have decided I want to play it blind, though I’m hoping that I don’t get to it ten years from now.  Money is hard, unless you’re Lady.

I, um.  Sorry about all the ‘trying to write accent’ stuff.  This is hard for even me to read at this point.  There's always a line between being true to the accent and being readable to an audience, and I think this falls too heavily on the former and ignores the latter completely.  Which is a shame, because I actually really like the content of this one.
(Also, awkwardly, Xander's sick, but obviously just a cold or a flu as that's what existed back then)
(...also this might be one of few cases where the core scoobies have showed up in my fic together?)

        “I also get to play with every alien device brought back—under Willow’s supervision.  I don’t think she trusts me to play with buttons alone.”
