Jojo's Bizarre Adventure/Buffy the Vampire Slayer AU
Chapter Summary: Mista's investigation goes...interestingly.
Word Count: 1077
Note: HERE THERE PROBABLY BE BUFFY/JJBA SPOILERS
“Giorno, there’s been a lot complaining about your animals.” He hates to bring it up, but the Don deserves to know.
“I see.” The Don is noncommittal, but that’s about half the time an indication to keep going, and he doesn’t tend to actually get angry at Mista, so it’s probably safe to finish. It’s not like anyone else has enough guts to tell Giorno this kinda stuff. (And he’s honestly not that intimidating, but people keep telling Mista he has special treatment for some reason.)
“Mostly just grumbling about poop and some of them stealing papers or stuff like that, but a couple of them keep feeling like they’re being watched.” Some of them deserve it honestly. It keeps them on their best behavior, and then Mista doesn’t have to keep wasting money on bullets.
“How odd.”
...Oh. That’s on purpose. That’s Giorno for you, always eight steps ahead.
Sometimes family is you, your daughter, your daughter’s girlfriend, your daughter’s supervisor, your ex on a good day, your daughter’s coworkers-slash-friends in saving the world, one of whom technically doesn’t live here but is here often enough that’s in name only. And your mom. And an ‘uncle’ who’s a turtle. And an uncle younger than you. And a great-something granduncle who’s also younger than you. And a grandfather who might be getting a little senile but is still sticking around somehow. And an invisible baby
There’s no way Mista will recognize—
“Uh, Giorno? What happened to your hair?”
…He might very well kiss Mista.
“I mentioned I wasn’t born Italian, right?”
“O-oh.” …Is the gunman blushing? “I wasn’t expecting you to look so good with dark hair, too.”
“They cut off my hair,” Giorno responds, pouting, now that his position is more secure and he can tease.
“I like your long hair, too, but at least it grows fast, right?”
The Don grins, and they ready themselves for another adventure.

Giorno thanks Mista for his concern.

Look, if you’re reading an Eyes of Heaven fic, you probably should have read the manga or not care about spoilers.
Joseph totally understands what’s being said, but he’s pretending he doesn’t because he’s curious and thinks (correctly) that some of them might censor themselves if they knew someone else would understand.

Giorno starts up a conversation with Mista as he drives. “Have you been to a zoo before, Mista?” He’s being…strangely careful as he drives. It’s honestly kind of terrifying because it’s so out of character.
“I have, once. One of the women I dated wanted to go, so I took her,” Mista explains, feeling oddly embarrassed, and he shifts uncomfortably in his seat as piercing blue eyes turned in his direction.
“Oh, that’s true,” Giorno muses, suddenly very polite but unnervingly distant. “You have a lot of stories about women you dated, but none of those are recent. If you need more time for such things, you should merely ask.”
Giorno’s making things even more awkward, and Mista breathes in deeply, suddenly with the feeling he’s treading on dangerous ground and doesn’t even realize it. “It’s not like any of that was really serious,” he begins, and instantly the frozen atmosphere relaxes. Maybe the danger’s all in his head. And then he realizes that he hasn’t asked out any of the pretty faces he’s interested in that he’s seen, even though that’s pretty much what he does. It’s weird. There must be a reason, but he’ll try to figure that out later. “I’m happy where I am, Boss. I’ll tell you if there’s something wrong.”
Giorno relaxes, too, and that’s when he realizes that his friend is worried about Mista sacrificing things all in service of Giovanna’s goals. He doesn’t get that when Mista pledged everything in service of Giorno Giovanna in front of all the other capos, he had meant every word. “Look, when something’s bothering me, I say something. I don’t keep it all inside.”
That’s the hint of an amused smile on that fair face. He decides it’s a perfect time to tease again. “Unlike some people,” he continues, and Giorno coughs, surprised. He tends to do that when he’s trying to hide the fact that he’s laughing.
“Perhaps you’re right, but you also don’t worry about things you don’t realize,” he points out, and Mista frowns.
“Yeah, ‘cause there’s no way for me to worry about things I don’t know,” he responds, and Giorno returns to driving, but he seems a little more relaxed than before.
