         “While this is flattering, you never showed this much interest in me when I was human,” Polnareff complains, voice still very loud.
         Ordinarily, Jotaro wouldn’t, but Polnareff continues to get on his nerves in ways that only one Frenchman is capable of, and it’s only fair after all the teasing that comes in his direction, so he glances directly into the hologram’s eyes from where he’s been poking at the turtle and in the most deadpan voice he can muster, states, “You weren’t this handsome when you were human.”
         Polnareff splutters, horribly offended. Jotaro’s not sure all of those words are English. He’s paid enough attention to the Italian (he likes that part of his heritage more than the English, mostly because it makes more sense) to know that some of them are curse words that Polnareff has picked up living with the Stand Mafia, which is fair, except for some reason his friend thinks it’s fair to tease. What he doesn’t realize is that Jotaro bothers to learn some phrases other than swearing in multiple languages and he’s fairly sure even the little English Polnareff bothered to learn is a little off, but no amount of protests or demonstrations has managed to get that through the man’s head. Jotaro has given up because he has work, Stand work, Slaying work, and being a dad, along with the occasional research paper; he doesn’t have time to beat truth into the man’s head.
         This sets his daughter off, and he glances up to see Buffy bent over, full-body laughing, tears in her eyes. He smirks. She needs to smile more. It’s even better revenge if it’s at Polnareff’s expense.
         As if on cue, the man trapped in the turtle starts whining about her reaction. “Now look what you’ve done, Jotaro. Your daughter’s laughing at me.”
         Faith is smirking more openly than he is, but she looks relaxed, which is good for her, too. “Does that mean we’re going to have a turtle as a father-in law?” she asks, and that sets Buffy off even more.
         Jotaro makes a show of taking a moment to think. “We’d have to put up with his shitty personality. I don’t think so.”
         “Jotaro!” Polnareff screams, and turns pleadingly to the man with the gun looking highly amused by the whole situation. “Mista, throw them out.” Mista makes absolutely no move to comply, never mind the fact that from what little Jotaro has managed to gather (he tries not to pay attention because he doesn’t particularly want to know) the Frenchman outranks him. Probably.
         Jotaro drops every bit of his teasing, readying himself to be fully honest. “I’m glad you’re all right.”
         Polnareff’s spluttering again, completely unable to find the proper words to respond, but Jotaro is fairly certain those tears are good ones. He’s proven correct when the turtle manages to choke out, “I missed you too, you magnificent bastard.”
