Note that this doesn't make the movie a better representation of the original manga/anime.  If it were going to be that, it would be the Japanese movies, which already exist.  This is gonna be its own deal, doing its own thing, but I hope it would still be more interesting and thoughtful than the Netflix movie.

well, we're into the spookiest month now... have the first part of a completely random two-parter pilot that probably won't go anywhere!
Date has been changed because seriously, unless Beyond's gone back to looking like whatever he did before he'd attempted the LABB murder cases, I highly doubt Light would forget if the face of one of the 'criminals' he judged was the face of L.

Chapter Summary: Light assumes he's removed all obstacles on Kira's path to godhood, but 'N' calls to share another inconvenient truth.  It seems Kira's justice might, in fact, be imperfect.

So, I'd seen the reviews and was not going to watch Death Note 2017, but a roommate wanted to watch it, and once it queued up I started laughing and was like, "Wait, this one?" I pretty much knew all the major plot points, but some things were better watching and some were not.  I will have spoilers, though the very beginning is fairly spoiler-lite and I clearly state where that will change.

welp there are dangers to watching lps including getting sucked in writing a character so hey you get more of this now & Tues instead

also I wonder if that plays into Light's thing at all.  (curse you Other Yagami you're making the guy slightly more sympathetic)  maybe he assumes that if they're in jail obviously they did it and isn't considering the cultural stuff (like higher false conviction rates)
