Was rereading L Change the World because to date it's one of my favorite Death Note things (the movie is also good but cuts out a lot of the scenes that actually make the plot understandable), and it's surreal. It's written and probably set in 2008, but the plot could have come in 2020. The main antagonists are a group of environmental terrorists who, enraged by the US pulling out of a climate change agreement, want to spread a virus to cull the human population. It's like the Lone Gunmen pilot, where the titular X-Files characters avert a plot to crash a plane into the World Trade Centers. It's surreal and eerie, though I guess that makes it perfect for the Month of Spooks. Weird similarities might be a theme in some coming up posts, too.
