Ø  Warnings: Likely forever unfinished, and ends in a kind of weird place.

The other fic I mentioned that made me like York, but it’s unfinished, sadly.  It’s very ambitious of a project.  Reads like a (longer and more thorough) video game novelization, and feels just as professional.  It also has some interesting changes to the story made to make the game make a little more sense (the other characters finding York in the closet is still my favorite), but it remains true to the charm of the game and to Twin Peaks.

Ø  Deadly Premonition

Ø  Warnings: uhhh…gore maybe?  (but that should be expected given this game)

Ø  Prereqs: Playing or watching Deadly Premonition first

Here’s another of the five.  You don’t even realize until you’ve finished this fic, but this really is a ‘Scenario B’, the other half of the story, without which the main story is incomplete (like choosing whether to play as Leon or Claire…).  It shakes things up considerably and levels the playing field (this time, it isn’t all the women that die…), plus between this and another fic, it’s the only reason I really started liking York.  Despite playing as him, you don’t really get in his head in the game, and the sympathy-inducing revelation doesn’t come until late into the game.  I can’t really give too much in the way of other details given that they’ll be spoilers, but it also dives a lot more into the world, fleshing it (and the characters) out, and making it really more of a Twin Peaks nod than it already is.  (Plus, if you’re interested in that sort of thing, the last chapter is just an exploration of the author’s choices and thought process when writing—I found it fascinating, anyway).

*edit: I didn't forget to change the title like a dumb, you saw nothing

Main Points:
Deadly Premonition
Summary: character study
Word Count: 180

It’s anything but easy to notice.  Agent York’s mannerisms make it easy to get distracted, and the fact that he’s clueless about the effect he has on others doesn’t help matters at all.  It’s mostly the fact that he’s serious when most people would be lighthearted, and lighthearted when most people would be serious.  He doesn’t get that it’s inappropriate, either.
But he really does honestly care about the investigation.  From running between seemingly unrelated leads to the way he deals with the sheriff’s office and the townsfolk, you might think he’s just treating this like a game, but every now and then, his serious side will show through.  When prompted, he shows concern for other people, and even if he does need prompting, his concern is actually genuine.  He’ll say things like he’s ‘here until the end’, and it’s one of the few cases where he’s appropriately serious.  And his actions…he does what he can for the people of the town.  Their concerns and problems are all equally valid and treated with respect, no matter how odd or mundane.
