Beware the Quiet Ones Dark!AU
The whole time everyone's running around and trying to stop Bakura, and it turns out that the Big Bad was actually Yugi all along. And Bakura finds him King of the World and has a hissy fit, and Yugi smiles and summons a high level monster with a gesture to destroy him.
(Seriously, sweet!sociopath!Yugi is terrifying.)

Forget Thief King. Yugi's been secretly wandering around taking over the world and TK finds him and is like "What are you doing here?" and Yugi's like "Don't you know? I've been here all along." And then TK loses it and breaks some stuff.

Reminder, Steel = mob boss Spike.
Honestly, based on a certain canon episode you can probably guess who the perp is without any other clues. Obviously, he thinks of werewolves as not human, but Steel and Xander know the "hunter" is the one who's truly inhuman. the hurt/comfort isn't super obvious, but Steel is definitely trying to look out for Xander who's on the breaking point.

(random aside, but since I'm listening to the Chaos Bleeds OST again for this I just realized that the picture chosen shows everybody's face but Xander's. You can see where he's standing, but Willow's blocking him. I don't know if this is official artwork or anything but it's kind of funny, like that failed photo you try to take with your friends and someone puts their hand in front of your face as a joke or something)

the main thing I like about this part is that I was entirely vague about whether it really was just ghosts at the end. there's a very surreal atmosphere there that's kind of the opposite of lisbon's dream in part i because it's more happy/peaceful in feel. as peaceful as the mentalist can get, anyway

Yet another fanfic from 2010, in which I had a strong image and opening and no idea how to follow up (it didn't help that I only had access to the first season).
The first bit is kinda fluffy but I'm not going to label it as a fluff-fic given where it goes. Lisbon's ooc, but that's on purpose.
As dark-fic goes, this one's really good at it, but it probably always will make me anxious to share dark-fic. But I'm going to stop stalling and actually post.

Also. Oh boy. This did not go anywhere I intended. I'm not kidding around with the warnings, this chapter is dark and to cover my bases I'll basically spoil everything in my summary, just so anyone interested in the series past this wants to know what happened without clicking below the cut. It's messing around with noncon themes, like my Star Trek fic Tomorrows Never Planned, but Xander doesn't have the objective distance Jim arguably has with his cambion-self. Other than it being prolonged, I'd call it pretty similar to the Consequences scene with Faith, but just...stay safe out there, ya'll. I was super uncomfortable writing it (moreso than the aforementioned ST fic...but then, I hadn't planned it at all, which might've freaked me out even more). Half of me just wanted to rush this out and then hide under the bed, and half of me wanted to never post it.

OOOH boy this is dark.
It's basically revisiting the darkness of the Suzuha ending if you've played/watched the Visual Novel as opposed to the anime.
I'm actually kind of scared as this already got super dark and there's people listed for future fic that would just break me even more and.
This is as soul-crushing as that one Silent Hill Sherlock fic.
