was rewatching my favorite Mentalist episode. ( discussion of racist moment in Bloodshot )but the rest of the writing is still fun, and it would have been so easy to just take that out.
When I write something problematic like that, because I will, either because society as constructed currently sucks, or because society as constructed currently sucks + I am not part of the minority group suffering, lemme know I screwed up, because I don't want to be a jerk, I want people to have fun reading my stuff, and it detracts from the work.
Anyway.
I thought about another blond who hides his pain behind smiles and flirting and a generally sunny attitude, started writing, went, "Wait, Apollo's more of the psychic...eh, that'll make it more interesting" and kept going. Patrick Jane as a character is interesting because here's a guy who's genuinely loving life and living in the moment and also 100% is living for revenge, and just--there's a lot of interesting nuance to the character that makes a fusion story fun.

the main thing I like about this part is that I was entirely vague about whether it really was just ghosts at the end. there's a very surreal atmosphere there that's kind of the opposite of lisbon's dream in part i because it's more happy/peaceful in feel. as peaceful as the mentalist can get, anyway

Yet another fanfic from 2010, in which I had a strong image and opening and no idea how to follow up (it didn't help that I only had access to the first season).
The first bit is kinda fluffy but I'm not going to label it as a fluff-fic given where it goes. Lisbon's ooc, but that's on purpose.
As dark-fic goes, this one's really good at it, but it probably always will make me anxious to share dark-fic. But I'm going to stop stalling and actually post.

A good casefic, and got me into this ship. And there’s actually relatively little of the ship, since for most of the chapters, they’re investigating different things, separately. As someone who loves detective stuff, let me say that this is one of the better casefics I’ve read in fiction.
