Happy Valentine's if you celebrate it, and if you don't I hope you have a great day anyway!
Buffy/Devil May Cry/Resident Evil/Background NCIS Crossover
Chapter Summary: Sometimes their jobs get in the way of plans, but that doesn't mean they can't be creative about it.
Word Count: 500
Rating: Gen
Pairing: Leon/Xander
Leon groans as he opens the door to his apartment. He’d been in the middle of the preliminary planning stages for a date when he’d been called to duty, end date undetermined, and they’d abandoned any plans and resolved to wing it, if he’d even make it back in time. It’s not like Xander didn’t understand. They both had dealt with this kind of thing before. But that doesn’t mean either of them were happy about it.
His steps pause as his fighting instincts tell him something’s changed. His hand goes to his side before he remembers he doesn’t have his gun on him right now. He glances around in the light of the moon and—yeah, he absolutely could use an umbrella if necessary. He pulls it out and advances.
And grins, setting it down just as carefully so as not to wake him up, because that white hair is practically glowing in the little light present. It’s not clear if Redgrave was expecting him somehow, or if he’d just been sleeping over because he slept better that way.
Something else is on the counter, and he grabs the small flashlight to get a better look. It’s a book. He flips through a bit, and sees entries—this is pretty much a diary. Answering all the questions he couldn’t think of, probably, and given the roses and chocolates next to it…
He shakes his head, smiling, touched. There’s no way he’s reading through this tonight. Probably not even in one sitting when he’s feeling less like he could sleep for days straight. But it’s dangerous giving this man time to plan, because he’s romantic and he’s definitely going to break Leon’s ‘calm, cool, and collected’ Agent exterior if he keeps this up.
And he might complain, but Kennedy’s secretly looking forward to it.
“Best Valentine’s,” he whispers out loud.
Apparently that’s a mistake. “Mmm. Leon?” Xander mumbles, barely awake.
“Go back to sleep, babe. I’m joining you soon.” He wouldn’t mind a shower, but isn’t sure if he’d even stay conscious long enough to make it through one, and given how long it’s been, he’s pretty sure Xander’s not going to be upset whenever they wake back up. He does grab a pair of sweatpants from the closet, because he’s slept in jeans before and doesn’t care to repeat the experience, and gets them on as fast as he can manage. He can’t wait, not least because he’s just about to pass out. He wouldn’t bother with even that, but he’s gonna make sure Xander’s comfortable when they haven’t gotten that far, and then a blanket, because even if the blue-eyed beauty runs hot, he still enjoys the feeling of a cozy nest of warmth around them.
He carefully arranges them and the blanket, tucking his head in against Xander’s collarbone, and the man hums contentedly and sleepily wraps an arm around him before drifting off completely, boneless in contented happiness, and Leon smiles, surrendering to the same feeling.
They haven’t had sex yet, so Leon’s respecting Xander’s boundaries like a good guy. (In case that wasn’t clear.) This also isn’t the next one timeline wise, but it’s a Valentine’s fic, so…
