Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, or if you don't celebrate that, I hope you had a great day anyway!
EDIT: Realized I used Margaret's usual name. In this AU, she's Shinju Miyama.
Main Points:
Persona 4 Verdict AU (P4/Judgment Fusion)
Chapter Summary: Hanamura and Seta clear some things up in the aftermath of catching a murderer.
Word Count: 410
Rating: Teen
Pairing: Yosuke/Souji
“I’m not going to become a lawyer again, Souji,” Yosuke says quietly, the happy, floaty tone due to all the painkillers almost completely gone, and Souji—
Souji hurts, because Yosuke was good at it, because he’d been sexy in the suit (now that he can admit that to himself), because that law mind he still has despite no longer being in the field is still really attractive and what probably drew him to the brunet in the first place. Well, he’d liked Yosuke a bit, way back when, but even when he’d been superficially friendly with the others he’d never allowed himself to actually get too close. Inaba had been the closest, but he’d been expected to come back and not get too attached and become a prosecutor. Which Souji had, because the Seta name mattered.
But Yosuke had made him understand that maybe, in fact, it didn’t matter as much as it seemed like it did. And he’d so effortlessly understood Souji and led him to open up in a way he didn’t think he would again after Miyama…but now that he’s bothering to look again, really look, Yosuke looks happy now, which really leads Souji to reconsider. Mostly because he was so stubborn, honestly. Sometimes his temper gets the better of him and he moves too quickly, but when he’s calm he can’t just stop at a verdict. He needs to know the truth, to not stop until he gets there, and that mindset fits a detective more than it does a lawyer.
And—well, if he’s allowed to be selfish, a prosecutor and a lawyer can’t date and face each other in the courtroom, and even then probing questions would be raised about professionalism, and now that the possibility has been raised Souji doesn’t think he has it in him to say no to giving them a chance, at least.
“I was wrong,” he admits. “This does actually suit you, and I’m sorry.”
Watching the smile dawn on the man’s face, Souji wonders briefly why he’d ever thought he was exclusively straight. “That was actually the main reason I hadn’t said anything—that, and we both thought you weren’t interested in guys,” Yosuke confesses, stumbling a bit over his words—but then, he did have a concussion and several broken ribs.
“I’m glad I was wrong,” he responds, allowing himself to be vulnerable, allowing Yosuke to reach out and take his hand and drift off to sleep.
