There's a lot more of this universe coming.  It's just in the queue.  This is the sidestep to the other crossover with Yakuza where Narukami is a Patriarch and Yosuke is a cabaret club manager.
It's Verdict because I was trying to come up with a universe name, came up with a codename instead, and it kind of stuck.  Because Verdict, Judgment, haha.  Very clever *sarcasm* anyway.  You've probably seen if you've read my other P4 works that I like friend!ship stuff with Yosuke and Chie, and Yagami and Saori friend!ship from my Judgment stories, so I think you can guess the casting in this story from there.  (I have a big casting board, but I'm still re-casting a few roles, so I'm not sharing that yet.)  Kubo is Hattori, because they're both slimy weasels.  Narukami is Mafuyu and Kirijo, eyepatch and all, is a slightly less approachable Patriarch (as opposed to Matsugane).
also it doesn't appear in this fic or any of the others so far but it is important so I'm sharing it here: Jun Kurosu is Majima and Tatsuya Suou is Kiryu.
reminder chinpira = low level thugs.
also if you have any suggestions for equivalent music i'd love to hear them.  I want to get a slightly different feel so i don't want to just use Judgment OST for writing (as good as it is).

Main Points:
Persona 4 Verdict AU (P4/Judgment Fusion)
Chapter Summary:
Surprisingly, even the use of martial arts isn't quite enough to rescue the night.

The evening had been going well.  Okay, sure, so it wasn’t in that way, but then, she didn’t want it to be like that, not with him.  What she has is fine.  Honestly, she missed having Hanamura around, if only because he was the only guy who didn’t make fun of her or think she was weird for knowing kung fu.  He’d even been willing to practice with her, teach her a few things like falls, and she’d missed sparring with him, whether with him in front of her or at her side.  They’d even managed to save a beleaguered hostess as they headed to the bar of choice.  Sure, in between, he’d been mindlessly scrolling through his phone as they walked, but everything was fine.
And then it happened.  He’d just stopped talking midsentence, staring at his phone blankly, and she’d read over his shoulder.  A retrospective on the few innocent verdicts over the years.  What immediately stands out are the two entries under the name of Hanamura and the byline, Kubo, that ghoul.
“Yosuke-kun…”  Chie whispers, and in response—
In response, he flinches.  “I…sorry, Satonaka-chan.  You know.”  He waves a hand vaguely, obviously focusing on his breathing and appearing natural, which would only be convincing if he wasn’t quite so blank about it.  He manages a smile, but it’s not one of his usual ones.  It’s almost a perfect carbon copy, but it’s soulless, because he’s too busy having a panic attack to be present.  He doesn’t have his earbuds on him, or fixing this would be as easy as getting him to lose himself in the music.
“Here, um…”  That’s right; they’re near Café Alps.  She could get him a juice or tea, maybe even something to eat, like a parfait, and more importantly get him to sit, because his hands are shaking.  They usually have music, too, and even if it’s not choices that he’d usually make, it would be something to drown out the pain.  Carefully she fetches his phone and slides it into the bag so he doesn’t drop it and break that too.
Patriarch Kirijo would probably buy him a new one, but still.  Better to not have to replace it at all.  Not that he’s said anything directly, but most of Chie’s work is seeing patterns, and she’s noticed that the rate of replacement has slowed down.  Times are probably hard for the Family.  That, or the baka thinks he’s a burden again and isn’t bringing it up.  Either one is equally likely.
A loud shirt stops them shortly before the store, though.  “Hey, girlie.  How’s about a night with us on the town, yeah?”
“Get lost,” she insists, and as expected the yakuza starts going on about her being cold.
Her foot meets his nose before he can finish the sentence.  She doesn’t bother taking her time with it and having some fun.  Not right now.
A loud sound behind her indicates that a body hit the sidewalk behind her, and she glances over to find Yosuke, pale but focused, even if there’s a pinch behind his eyes that says this effort is costing him.  He nods with a slightly terrifying smile, and they start systematically taking down any foolish enough to get too close.  As expected, the rest run.
“Here I am, I finally get a night off, and these chinpira try to ruin it!”  At least she’d finally figured out how to fight in heels.  And walk in them.  Even if they’re what some people would barely call heels.  Whatever; it’s impressive for her and that’s what matters.  She kicks one of them lightly in the side for good measure.  The yakuza groans.
“I, uh.  Probably didn’t help with that much, did I?” he asks, sheepish, and she turns and points a finger at him.  He throws his hands up, still pale and not-quite present.
“Lemon tea and a strawberry parfait,” she insists, and he manages a watery smile, mostly because with her tone she probably sounds like she’s threatening them.
“I surrender, Satonaka-chan.  I’m at your mercy.”  If he’s feeling good enough to snark, he’s doing a little better.  He’s not protesting the food choices, which means she’d chosen well.  Go Chie!  But it still means she might have to postpone grilling him about Narukami.  More’s the pity.
Another thing on this particular criminal’s tally list of sin.  She kicks the guy once more for good measure and holds open the door for Hanamura-san, who very suddenly looks like he’s going to collapse.  She really needs to get him to a seat and get him some calories, stat.
