interesting and entirely unintentional coincidence about topics (working through relationship stuff) here & with Judgment fic currently.
Main Points:
Buffy/Devil May Cry/Resident Evil/Background NCIS Crossover
Chapter Summary: Leon thinks again about the next course of action.
Word Count: 480
Rating: Teen
Pairing: Leon/Xander
So, point number one: Xander was going to tell him. He’d just been terrified, because it was something that could change everything and he didn’t want anything to change. Well—no, that’s not quite right. If his comments about Leon being ‘cute’ are any indication, both of them were hoping for one big change, while neither of them wanted to lose the other. Sure, it might’ve been nice to know some—any of it, really—sooner, but he might’ve reacted badly if he hadn’t gotten to know Xander first.
But Redgrave’d finally worked up the courage, and Chris was going to be a test run. It just happened that the plan failed.
Point number two: there’s the part demon thing. It doesn’t take long to come to the conclusion that he doesn’t care, any more than he cared about the whole male thing. Maybe it would’ve scared him when he was younger, but at this point, he’s not fully human himself. Oddly, the thought that Xander was only half human makes him feel—there’s that word again—more normal. Hunnigan doesn’t treat him like a freak, but they all know she’s awesome. The rest tend to be prejudiced. It’s lucky enough he managed to find a team willing to work with him in the first place.
Point number three: whether or not he trusts Xander to be honest with him when they do talk. Probably, but still…it’s not like Xander had waited to hear everything from Leon either, even if he’d felt guilty about the whole thing. Leon could go looking for a profile, something, anything. And he definitely wouldn’t mind having more pictures of Xander, too—
Plus, even if he’d seemed pretty unfazed, he’d probably been wanting to avoid the—the stabbing. At some point, Leon’s going to apologize. With pizza. Possibly ice cream.
So. Demanding that debriefing sounds like a good next step. Writing down an entire list of questions. Recognizing that Xander’s not the only one at fault here. And that, misstep or not, he’s pretty sure he wants to make this work. First things first.
Backspacing on the dialed number, despite the pang of hurt. It’s only a delay. “Hey, Hunnigan. So, about that sad excuse for a debriefing for that last mission…”

Leon realizes quickly that he has no idea what to do with his free time, now that he’s not hanging out with Xander. He’d almost called him, and realized just in time. It hurts not being able to talk to him, which probably indicates he’s in deep, but still. He has to have some distance to think rationally about this, or, well, as rationally as he can. It’d be easy to dismiss this as just another Ada situation, where he’d been played for a fool because that’s one thing that hasn’t changed with the cynicism: he still falls head over heels in love.
