Half-Japanese, which is half the charm. He can translate some of the Japanese or explain particularly Japanese concepts. He’s generally fairly calm, but also doesn’t take the scares like Lotus Prince or Manly. He also regularly responds to comments (I’ve gotten several responses myself) which is, of course, much easier on a smaller, more intimate channel. If you don’t recognize the game, give it a chance anyway. It may be a horror game that’s badly or not translated, and his language skills can make interesting Japanese horror games available to an audience which would otherwise not have that audience. (Honestly I’d list more of those videos, but I don’t remember them just based off their names. Unfortunately.)
Recommended Games:
Ø Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle—Half the time he’s apologizing and it’s great. You play as Jason in various puzzles and try to murder everyone.
Ø Blight Dream—You’re a girl with amnesia, and your brother might be a killer trying to keep you quiet. Maybe. I like his thoughtful, kind of taken aback approach.
Ø Sin—Short but strangely Persona-4 related. A weird world where you’re stuck on a train with amnesia and helping out the leader of a group who may or may not be trustworthy. I got to interact with him comment-wise which is cool (again, small channel = likelihood of response ranku uhp).
Ø Prom Dreams—It’s a completely normal dating sim. Probably. But watch it anyway. It’s an RPG Maker game.
Ø Steins;Gate—The anime adaption is widely considered one of the best time travel anime that exists. After shocking events, the main character (who for reasons calls himself Kyouma rather than his real name, Okabe) finds that his memories don’t match those of anyone else. He and the other Lab Mems which join find this may be due to time travel, but lots of hidden dangers lurk. Dislikes Kyouma (the main character) for most of the run, but slowly comes to like him (and his responses to the major twists are great).
Ø Trying Not to Laugh—Unlike most other youtubers, his video involved looking at a Japanese clip and explaining what’s going on. As with others, dissolved into helpless giggling at times, but served as a good exposure to Japanese culture (and yes, it was funny as well as informative to watch).
Ø Retail Hell—Not much even happens in this RPG Horror game, but I still find it sticking in my head anyway (and checked it out after I started working retail myself).
