Unlike most of the ones on my list, does not play a lot of horror games.  Calm and rational in his approach; will talk about interesting stuff (including about the game).  Doesn’t swear much (unlike his friend Ogre).  He and Ogre have kind of a Red Oni, Blue Oni thing going on (if you know that Japanese trope…yes I’ve read his tropes page, why?)  He’s the only person I’ve actually caught streams live from (the full stream).  Jojo’s fan.

Recommended Games:

Ø  Persona 4—Pseudo-Diamond is Unbreakable.  Draws parallels between Jojo’s and Persona 4 (which is honestly how I got into Jojo’s in the first place; I’d started off being interested in Persona 4 [via the animation] and was finally convinced that if I liked the world of Persona and Naka said they were similar enough, I should check it out because I’d probably enjoy it.  I’m glad I did).  He and Ogre also treat it as an important thing in its own right, though (and actually apologize for not doing so to begin with; most youtubers I know wouldn’t mention that they’d been handling a particular series incorrectly).  I’ve watched this playthrough multiple times and in fact could probably quote parts of it.

Ø  .hack// (all of it)—Sword Art Online, but with likeable characters (my own opinion).  There’s a charm to it that I didn’t have when I attempted (and failed) to watch SAO, including (other than GU) a more realistic take on what would happen when people started getting stuck in games.  Is entirely the fault of me writing Innocent Sin Online fanfic (as well as buying some of the trading cards—yes, those exist).  He even did his best to overcome his dislike of //GU and treat it as a game in its own right (and mostly succeeded).

Ø  Minecraft—Not your average Minecraft series, and most probably the best crafted ‘using a game to tell a story’ series I’ve seen on youtube, the first ‘season’, called Survival, involves teaching another character, Friend, about the world of Minecraft that they have found themselves in.  Journey Home involves him jumping through different worlds (mod showcases) to try to get home after the finale of Survival.  And then there’s Fate’s Grasp, in which case the main character is being toyed with by a powerful force.  The end credits are used in an interesting way that gets super philosophical, and there’s an episode called Aquila where the main character loses it that’s powerful and hard to watch.  It’s by no means perfect, but it’s one of the most creative, well-thought out, even scripted series basically just using a game and mods to tell a story.  There’s even a behind-the-scenes.

Ø  DOOOOOooooooOOOOm but seriously Doom—It’s rare that Naka plays games with blood, but it’s clear the game is special to him (and it’s basically just him and Ogre goofing around and therefore is fantastic).

Ø  Let's Play D&D: Chronicles of Mystara—Not just him and Ogre.  One of few series I watched as it was coming out (and kept going ‘hey, new episode? Pleaseeee?’)

Ø  Let’s Watch Space Channel 5—If you didn’t get enough weird from Baroque, try Space Channel 5.  I can’t even describe this one.

Ø  Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.  Especially the latter in time for Part 5 to come out.  😊  The soundtrack is fabulous, and the fact that they know Jojo’s so well makes the fact that the games are only in Japanese not actually that big of a hurdle.  I’ve watched these games several times over (as well as the Minecraft series and the Persona series) and they’re just so good.  Expect great things from Ogre in the Oasis/Green Day fight.
