KomodoreDragon:

Must-have skills: Spell Master (Aqua level 55).  You’ll want to get this as soon as possible.  Without, you’ll be blowing through your SP.

Purification (Aqua level 65).  As a Spellbinder if you’re planning to try to solo any and aren’t planning to spend all your money on healing items, this one’s nice, particularly since it removes ailments.  At level 10 in the Agi pool, you can also get an attack/healing spell, Kaen.  It’s cheap to pick up, so there’s not a lot of reason not to.  If you’re already getting Skills in the line, Thunder Baptism (Zio 90) also is an attack/healing spell.  Untainted Wind (Garu 100) is not a healing spell but it does clear ailments.  On the enemies too, though, so think carefully about using it and slotting it.

Along those lines, be judicious in your choice/use of Ragnarok Trisagion (Agi 110).  It does a lot of damage, but it increases everyone’s attack, including those of enemies.  Some dungeons cannot, however, be run without it.

Mage’s Craft (Aqua 75) is a pretty good chance to do double damage, which as a Spellbinder is a great idea.  Your best bet is to do all the damage possible.  Or, in other words, “your best defense is a good offense”.

I recommend Frigid Spray (Bufu 110) pretty highly.  Slow on your enemies means that they’re sitting ducks as you fire off spell after spell on them, which is pretty nice.

I recommend getting a Reflect on one line to do extra damage and an Absorb on another to heal yourself.  Absorb overrides Reflect once you get it.

The Dance and Gate spells are interesting.  It’s probably good to negotiate specifically with demons of your chosen element, because you can then use a Dance or Gate to summon them and turn in Missions, trade items, and the like.  A Gate is also used for access to some of the late dungeons.

I recommend ignoring the usual skills (Agi, Agilao, and Agidyne, for example from the Fire set) and getting ones with extra effects.  This might involve buying skills from other sets, but that’s useful anyway if you want to buy Skills from that set later on.

From there, you can choose to specialize or cherry-pick skills.  Zio skills are good for occasionally causing Shock (paralysis specifically associated with Zio skills).  Several Bufu skills also target two weaknesses, Bufu and Aqua.  The Aqua skill line has several conal skills, but you’ll want to be good with movement for this build (along those lines, I recommend getting the cross skill Wind Foot [Garu 50]).  All Agi skills have a chance of causing DoT.  A couple Garu skills increase Agi damage.  Several skills, particularly later level ones, cause ailments.  Choose elements that fit your style, playstyle, or the enemies you want to fight.

I recommend getting at least one Magna skill so you can target two weaknesses at the same time.

Other skills that target two weaknesses are Black Flame (Agi + Mudo), Floral Gust (Garu + Tulsi), Twinkle Nebula (Garu + hama).

Spells with an AoE around the caster, such as Heavenly Cyclone (Garu 40), Gentle Wave (Bufu 45), Mighty Wave (Bufu 55), are good if enemies get too close.  It’s easy enough to target AoEs around yourself for the same effect in my experience, though.

Sword skills are good for when you run out of SP, and are also good for covering whatever elements you’re not planning on adding to your arsenal.

I’m not sure how to feel about Feather Cut (Sword 110).  I’m pretty sure it’s best used for PvP so if that’s not your shtick (as it’s not mine) ignore it.

Skills with a chance of Instadeath (Guillotine [Sword 115], Killing Wind [Garu 125], and Deathbound [Sword 125]) are pretty handy.

Recommended Master Classes: Pilgrim is interesting (more attack skills!  Woo!).  Silver tongue is never a bad idea if you want to focus on more Allegiance type things.  Courageous is recommended especially for the Patience defense line.

Recommended Traits: Magic.  Definitely Magic.  Throw most things you can into Magic, because all Skills that increase their damage based on your Magic level (even more so with specific Skills as noted)—auto skill Mage Blood.  Any time-based things (DoTs, extra effects) are based on your Mag score.

Recommended: Get a certain Magic score (exact unknown), do certain amount of damage with Spells (exact unknown), will be invited to secret Magician’s sphere, get exclusive btr armor & equip.

TheKitsuneGamer: Man, this is thorough!  I’ll note that Aqua makes you more susceptible to all damage but Agi, Agi has a chance of DoT, Bufu has a chance of freeze, Zio has a chance of shock, Garu has a chance of knockback, Tera has a chance of stun, and Swordplay has a chance of DoT, if that helps give you an idea of what you want to do.
