idle thought #441
Feb. 18th, 2023 05:48 pmAbout a certain game with magic, I'll quote Takayuki Yagami from Lost Judgment: "Truth is, there's a lot of injustice in the world that goes unseen. Some people decide it's easier to be part of the problem than part of the solution." You may not be the one bullying a classmate to the point of suicide or targeting them with harassment campaigns. Turning a blind eye to those using their power and influence to target trans people might not be actively attacking or killing them, but you're those kids sitting there in the classroom watching as a classmate gets bullied. Giving money to people who have said they take that money as validation is sending a message. Feminism (or anything else standing up for a group of minorities) without intersectionality isn't worth a damn. Fascism never stops with targeting a single minority. Bullies feel empowered because it's not 'uncool' to be a clear bully anymore, and they're pushing back on social consequences when it's mostly...they don't want to associate with some people they don't think should exist, but for some reason others not wanting to spend time with them because they don't share the same views is "cancel culture" because...they're special. Or something. And if one of your "feminist" movement rallies has a woman unironically quoting from Mein Kampf, I think you have lost the moral high ground.
In other words, the world sadly continues to remain on fire in a way that has been a concern since 2016, and our "heroes" (creators we looked up to) continue to disappoint, in the mildest understatement way I could possibly put it. Unfortunately.
