When he’d first written the song, Guilty Love was just…some clever thematics. It’s only all of the trials, when everything started going downhill, that it started to feel…sinister. Like it’s a curse, like the only kinds of love he’s capable of are guilty. Even his little crush on his courtroom rival—he’s not sure if it would be welcomed and doesn’t want to burden the man with his problems, in any case. He knows it’s one of the most popular, he finds it catchy himself, and often finds himself humming the tune when he’s thinking. It’s in the quieter moments when he can think that he finds himself considering it far too much. He knows that tragedies are a hit, that unrequited love is considered romantic, but now older, debatably wiser (ja, he knows there are those that would disagree, specifically a certain detective), instead of that shiny allure all he sees is that all he has is his work. And no matter how much he tries to hint that all he wants from Apollo is friendship (for yes, he would be happy with that, it’s not like friendship is some kind of consolation prize, there’s rich meaning and a song in that, too), the man refuses to take him at his word there, either, thinking Klavier’s teasing is just mean, that his overtures of friendship are a mere gesture. Fair, Klavier supposes. He comes off as a bit superficial, so he can see why Apollo wouldn’t consider him serious. It’s all too easy to fall back on the, as Ema terms it, ‘glimmerous fop’, because it feels hard to face them on his own.
