Ø  Warnings: It’ll take you practically forever to get through all of the stories, but it’s worth it.  Also, sex, Jack/Ianto (but easily skimmed if you want—except for the particular ship but if that’s true than you probably shouldn’t even be here in the first place).

Here’s the last of the five.  The Dragon-Verse is my favorite (Ianto is a dragon, Jack gets called out for his bs, and there are happy endings even through all the usual Torchwood pain).  (I also super enjoyed the Wizard and Deathless Universe, though).  My favorites on this list are there because they take the original, spare no time calling people on their idiocy (trust me, there’s idiocy, and it’s problematic when no one calls anyone out on it), and yet still their love and respect for the original shows through.  True fans trying to fix things they love and make them better, and if a work of love is considered lacking we’re all living in the wrong universe.  Or something.

I might be a little tired, but never mind that. 

Gwen doesn’t get away with some of her horrible behavior (seriously, original writers, what were you thinking), and neither does Jack, and neither does anyone else.  Which makes for much better reading.  I also didn’t realize how problematic some of the Doctor’s behaviors are until her fics pointed them out, so they do a good job at making me think.  (It’s not unrealistic that he’s got issues, but damn does the main source material do a horrible job at pointing it out/even doesn’t show some of them as problematic, and that’s…that’s entirely wrong, because having companions is partly so that they can point that out to him.)
