Summary: Aftermath of Edgeworth's Note.
Word Count: 205
Rating: Gen
The first sound, after Larry opens the door to his apartment is Phoenix slapping Miles in the face. And from the noise, he hadn’t held back at all. “You were gonna let me think you were dead, you jerk?”
“It wouldn’t have been a lie,” Edgeworth says quietly, with a conviction that hadn’t been present for a while.
Nick yells longer before the words process, and then he’s stunned speechless. “I—what.”
“I was standing on the edge, staring into that abyss.” The voice is soft but powerful, the same one that had held audiences captive. “I would like to say that I would’ve been strong enough not to take that step, but…I don’t think I can say that, in fact. Larry saved me. With a plan that was, frankly, ridiculous. You would’ve been proud, Wright.”
Nick notices the voice tremble at the end and wordlessly pulls Miles into a hug. Surprisingly, Miles makes no move to hurt Phoenix, so it’s probably safe enough for Larry to join in.
Instantly, there are protests, as Miles gets suffocated in the middle, and Larry starts laughing hysterically.
Surprisingly, in the end, they all end up laughing. It’s a good step on the way to rebuilding their friendship.
