Chapter Summary: Buffy, Willow, and Josuke are trying to catch up.
Word Count: 1050
Note: HERE THERE PROBABLY BE BUFFY/JJBA SPOILERS

Everything is moving quickly. Way too quickly, Josuke would say, but that’s not true, exactly. Crises and fights don’t move at a convenient speed, so. Yeah, everything’s moving really fast and all they can do is try to keep up. He can at least try to fix his great hair a little as they head down the street. It’s not going to be perfect; there’s been too much water for that. But he can try to at least restore a little bit of a semblance of normalcy with his comb and calm himself down and actually try to think this through.
“Xander—Johan, that is—better be okay,” Rosenberg-chan mutters, with an apologetic look at Josuke, and he just pats her shoulder awkwardly.
“Look, I don’t care what he wants to call himself as long as he makes it through this in one piece,” he tells her, a little tired. At least some of the others were able to heal, so he didn’t have to go through all of this with all the cuts from the water, sharp as knives and threatening to flay him alive.
Or at least if he’s in pieces, he at least is sensible enough to stay alive until we get there,” Summers-chan adds, voice bright and full of promises of stabbing and probably cutting. She doesn’t have a death grip on Luck & Pluck but Josuke’s seen her wield it like it weighs nothing, so he has no illusions that she couldn’t actually just stab someone right here and now if she wanted to. Luckily for Josuke, there’s no one close enough that she’d want to cut, and she doesn’t go berserk like Yukako, no matter how determinedly she’d been trying to hack away at that Pillar Man guy.
They do get to see, walking down the street like this, Johan jump out of the clock tower, glass shattering all over and probably cutting him further. It looks like he’s managed to make some sort of makeshift kite using just some sort of tarp and crackling hamon. Josuke’s torn between pride and worry (like that’s anything new; he did raise Josephine, after all) and Rush take a flying leap behind him, heading for a closer roof. That’s probably going to be a problem; Rush has more momentum, more speed, and even if he’s not aiming for the same rooftop he’s going fast enough he’s probably going to catch up before too long. But there’s only so much they can do from here, either. They can start running, but even then catching up, getting there quickly enough to do much, that’s going to be hard. They’ll stop again, probably, if they start fighting again, but that’s dangerous, too. Problem is, there aren’t really that many good options.
I, um. I can try to help,” Rosenberg-chan mumbles, determination and something magic flashing in her eyes, and then she’s not paying any attention to her surroundings anymore at all, gaze vague and unfocused and just staring off in the right direction. She doesn’t sound too confident that she’ll be able to do a ton, but every little bit might be just the thing that Xander needs to turn the tide. To stay alive.
Summers-chan, meanwhile, has sheathed the sword at her back and is now steering Rosenberg-chan carefully, trying to make sure she doesn’t just walk into a wall when she’s not paying attention. If the thought of witches putting curses on people didn’t make Josuke want to bite his lip, he’d ask about how it all worked. Obviously not right now. She’s busy. But honestly maybe before now. It’s stupid, he knows. She’s on his side. Jotaro-san would have done it in a heartbeat even if it made his hands shake, even if Jotaro-san wasn’t the bravest person Josuke knows. Actually, he probably already had asked about it, memorized the answers and tucked them away like all the other information he knows because it’s important. It’s not the time now.
And they see the last of the police officers or whatever they’re called running into the clock tower. Rush isn’t there anymore, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t leave a trap behind. Josuke wants to go talk to them, coordinate a plan of attack maybe. It’s not the first time he’s actually had to do that, work with different departments, travel for work. Admittedly the one time it’d been because that bastard Rohan somehow involved himself in something, again, but there’s been better, brighter times, too. He takes all of one step before he’s yanked into the shadows behind a building and realizes that Summers-chan had already steered herself and Rosenberg-chan into those shadows, too.
“But they’re in danger!” He listens to her implication, keeping his voice as low as he can, but he still gestures angrily in the direction of the clock tower.
“Yeah. They are.” Summers-chan doesn’t budge an inch. “And if you help them out, Karmaslave could notice you. Which would be bad in general, no matter what it decides to do with you.”
He tries not to mess up his perfect hair in his frustration. “I hate this.” Even more people might be in danger or die if he does end up caught up in this weird supernatural creepy town. He’s not stupid, he got that, it’s just. It still sucks.
Jotaro-san’s not there. He’s not coming out. He’d gone ahead, so maybe the town noticed him already, and Josuke can’t go in to check.
I don’t deal well with just waiting, either,” Summers-chan tells him, like it’s a surprise, like he hadn’t known that. At least no one’s started screaming. No one’s fallen out of windows yet. They’re too far away even across the street to see or hear much of anything, but still, he can take comfort where he can.
And then Summers-chan grabs his sleeve and points, and he swallows, because that’s definitely blood smeared on the side of the building. Summers-chan carefully places Rosenberg-chan facing the wall, probably so she’s less likely to go wandering off on her own again, and then they go to check out the blood together, Josuke ready to use Crazy Diamond to pummel any ambushes into submission. He doesn’t know what could possibly be waiting to ambush them, but clearly something bad happened here.
