Chapter Summary: Xander does his best to stay alive.
Word Count: 310
Rating: Gen What are we doing here? Hikari asks. The hardest part of this whole thing is concentrating so he doesn’t respond out loud.
‘You said spiritual energy is a problem.’ The kind of problem that could easily get him killed in this town, so he’s not about to just stick his head in the sand, ignore its existence, and hope it goes away. ‘Sure, there’s no solutions you can think of from your end, because this isn’t a problem you’ve really run into before according to what you’ve said, but I’ve grown up on a Hellmouth. If there’s no solution in your bag of tricks, just get a different bag of tricks.’
He narrows his eyes at the crystals on the shelf before turning toward the owner looking hopefully at him. “So. Spiritual healing. What would you suggest?”
In the end, he leaves with a ruby, which is supposed to act like a bandage over the spiritual wounds, yellow jasper which might help him with the whole jumping in and out of his body thing, a moonstone to encourage spiritual growth (and hopefully replenishment), and lavender tea which is ‘spiritually rejuvenating’. It might all just be a silly waste of time and money, but if it isn’t—if it helps him survive even just a little longer—then the purchase is entirely worth it.
Along those lines, he’s definitely going to have to bug Buffy for sword training, because if he can manage to a) not get hit and b) do a lot of hitting on his own without having to rely on powers (like the spells? Off limits except in real emergencies like the apocalypse, given how he might sort of be using his own life force to cast them), he stands a greater chance of not only being able to help but maybe even getting out of fights unscathed.
