Giovanni continues to be unexpected to everybody involved, including on the other side of the fourth wall. No idea when the next chapter is coming, but hopefully it won’t be nearly a year this time.

they were plotting—there was going to be this whole arc where ezio and claudia had to be the ones to let francesco go free (while in disguise) because desmond had to be the one killing alberti since he’s still got all the skills. but no. giovanni had to step in.

Giovanni is fun to write but infuriating. His ability to come to wrong but completely reasonable conclusions with what he knows, throw a wrench in the works, and throw my plotting off kilter are unparalleled. I had stuff planned out and then he came along. Maria, too, but it’s easier to run with her assumptions.
I was going to have Desmond roll his eyes at her, but apparently the earliest recorded time (which was Shakespeare, so a little later) that was considered flirting, and I didn’t want that misconstrued if they’d even recognize it. The more you know.
I will join the chorus in saying ‘blame esama’. I have no idea what I’m doing here (but then, you could probably say the same for poor Ezio). (and, you know, the rest of the people on ao3 assassin’s creed, but it always starts with esama.) If you think you recognize anything, it’s probably because you do and I don’t own it. If anything, it owns me. I wasn’t ever planning on writing this, but I guess read enough of these awesome works in succession and suddenly this happens.
