A note to anyone who might be suffering depression: I care. No, I don't know you personally, but I'm one of those people who chooses to still believe in humanity, in people. The thought that anyone might choose to leave this beautiful thing we call life is tragic. If you're not getting any support where you are--try something new. Try to find at least one person who likes you for who you are in real life. I guarantee, with so many humans on this planet, you'll find one. Though it might take a while. Because, if you're depressed, that's what you're maybe missing. Or talk to a psychologist. If they're stupid, find a new one. They're paid to help you. There are so many things out there for you, to support you, and all you have to do is talk. We never know how many lives we touch, and once we're dead, well. Maybe as ghosts or something else we can see, but I guarantee you you're underestimating how many people won't realize how much they cared until they get a wake up call. Please let it be a conversation, rather than a funeral.

Addressing another group of people: I still cannot believe humanity, sometimes. I believe in humanity, but I, sometimes. I'm disappointed by all the people that pop up on youtube, saying things like 'claiming you're going to commit suicide is just a call for attention'.
Let me first just point out how incredibly 'duh' this is. A lot of the time, suicide is a call for attention, but this by no means makes it any less real. But clearly you haven't bothered to take any psychology classes, or read any psychology articles or anything else on the subject. People who are that depressed are searching for validation, that one single person cares enough about them to want them to still be in the world. To still continue to exist. You may say "Oh, but my words can't be enough to drive someone over the edge". Oh, but yes, they can. They're hoping to be proven wrong, they're hoping that that nagging idea that the world would be better off without them, that no one will miss them, is a lie. By telling them, essentially, that they're just a waste of space, that they're being stupid, that they don't matter, what kind of message do you think that sends? A few might be fakers, true, but you can't see the person behind the keyboard. Are you really such a heartless human being that you're willing to potentially commit manslaughter by a dismissive comment on the internet, or are you going to try to get them help? (By the way, if you know them in real life, an anonymous phone call to one of the suicide hotlines may get them the help they need, or, in the case of the few, more attention than they bargained for.) By helping out, there's nothing to lose. You'll have done the best you could, and you can't blame yourself if it still ends in tragedy, but if you're one of the idiots dismissing legitimate calls for help? Shame on you.
