Chapter Summary: Jotaro's last plan didn't work out, so he needs to reevaluate his options.

Note: HERE THERE PROBABLY BE BUFFY/JJBA SPOILERS
Giorno currently looks like he had the same idea as Kakyoin—steal a bunch of stuff just to tick ‘em off, and scouting to get a better grasp on the situation, although in Kakyoin’s case that involves using Hierophant, with the theft mostly because he’s bored and needed to make a point about arrogant assholes assuming they’ve got the upper hand, and in Giorno’s involves turning all their fancy chairs and paintings into water creatures. It’d be neat to see them in more detail, but if Jotaro goes to look now, this will turn into another discussion about biology and while that’s worthwhile, now really isn’t the time.
It’s not surprising how, never mind that this water doesn’t have an acid-like effect, Hol Horse is hiding with Callahan and Santiago under the desks. Given orders, he’ll absolutely fall in line, but his survival instincts coming first and foremost hasn’t changed.
Giles...appears to be looking for secret doors, which is a little surprising and some pretty good thinking. Place like this, they’ve probably got a backdoor somewhere. ‘Course, it’s pretty clear “Geoffrey” wouldn’t have left an escape route like that, but given what he’d seen of the man previously, it’s more than he’d expected. Rosenberg seems to have decided that living is more important than trauma and some vow, so she’s trying to use magic to help Giles. von Stroheim turns away from the long table with frustration and sloshes her way over to one of the remaining artworks, which is just getting more and more amusing. Brown and Buffy-chan are negotiating some sort of plan involving the bow and probably the sprinklers with exaggerated hand gestures, less exaggerated hand gestures, and no small amount of pointing.
And then suddenly the roar is gone. A few of the others look confused, and Callahan even pokes his head out briefly only to hiss and pull back, because the water’s still coming down. Just much, much slower.
“Good job, Koichi-kun.” Kakyoin doesn’t even have to raise his voice now. Yeah, Jotaro wondered, but he hadn’t been sure. Then again, Kakyoin had been the one to really work with the kid, learning to use his Stand. Teaching wasn’t really Jotaro’s thing, anyway, a major reason he’d never even considered academia for a second. He’d already had enough of school from the student’s end.
They do get to hear Act 3 proclaim loudly and proudly, “I rhymed ‘eight’ with ‘quiet’!”
...Jotaro’s pretty sure that’s not how the English language works, but whatever, he’s not going to question it, since that might break the effect and they kind of need that right now. And it’s not like English rap has ever been something he’s been an expert in, anyway.
“I figured if I made the sound of the water quieter it might slow down the flow, too. Though I’m getting the feeling it wouldn’t have been as easy earlier. It was doing this naturally; I just...helped it along.” Hirose’s quietly pleased. It’s a surprise his wife didn’t interrupt with continuing to praise him, but then Jotaro notices she’s preoccupied, having woven a net of her hair to try to keep the force of the water outside from bursting through the door. She probably can’t even look around much.
Acheron looks like she’s contemplating making a phone call (probably unlikely other locations, unless they’re outside, are doing better than this room after Echoes). So he walks over, his pant legs getting splashed. Given everything going on right now, though...maybe he’s not going to complain. Out loud, anyway. He’s a bit of an asshole, not a complete one.
He decides to be blunt. He’s tired of playing these games (nonprofits, funding, and oral thesis defense are enough for a lifetime), and they don’t have the time to be dancing around this anyway. “I hate leaving the lot of you alive.”
She looks even older. Older, and in desperate need of a week’s sleep. She doesn’t attempt to argue or fuss. She just nods, resigned. “That’s fair.”
Like that’s the end of this. “But letting this situation continue would leave a bad taste in my mouth.”
For the first time since they’ve met, she actually looks surprised. Tch. He knows he’s predictable, but it still gets annoying.
He points a thumb at the window. “Is our best chance the windows, or do you have an escape tunnel?”
“It’s down for repairs. Which, if I heard the conversation correctly, was probably sabotaged by our in-house handyman, Geoffrey.” And because she’d been screwed over, she was perfectly willing to screw him over right back. Nice. That’s an attitude Jotaro gets. “Of course, you’ve probably worked out that it’s highly unlikely he was using his real name—something that would have been very difficult to accomplish, when the contract you sign requires your real name to do so.”
Jotaro considers that. Acheron actually gives him the time and space to do so, which just makes Jotaro more paranoid, but when he nods, she does, too, if a bit more deeply. She’s giving more information about this guy later, when they actually have the time for it. Maybe she’s actually trying to bow, shallowly.
“The glass itself is protective necrotempered glass. It doesn’t let in UV light or other wavelengths our sunlight-challenged employees find deadly, but, well. If we stay here, it’ll just as easily be their tomb, and we do need to vent some of the water.” She pauses and raises her voice. “Santiago, by the opposite wall. We’ll be venting some of the water outside.” She waits until the woman, wincing, does as asked before nodding at him again. “Go ahead, Dr. Kujo.”
Star’s mid-punch when the lights come on and the screaming begins again.

Jotaro takes a moment to glance around, using Star’s eyes to enhance his own sight through this curtain of water. Sawyer isn’t a demon, or at least if he is he’s a weird one, because he’s not experiencing any issues with the holy water whatsoever. The same thing is happening with Garmr, but that just increases the probability that Jotaro’s half-hearted thought about how maybe it’s demons with a connection to, say, the Vatican are experiencing problems, and everyone else is mostly okay. Interestingly, so is the old woman. She’s not just twiddling her thumbs, though. She appears to be texting, so she might be calling for backup or checking in with subordinates or something, and rather than just attempt to call and then panic because no one can hear a word, she had the same thought he did. That requires some grudging admiration. Ahriman’s skin is peeling, though it looks less like a wound and more like an animal shedding a skin, particularly since he just looks annoyed and not in pain.
