“Augh! He’s infuriating!”
Miles raises his eyebrows, mildly amused. He is in a fairly good mood, having achieved the correct verdict today. Obviously, the same is not true of Firebird. Usually, he’s more friendly than anyone probably should be when dealing with Miles, beginning with a greeting, but that’s not the case today. “Oh?” he responds, picking up the items he’d won from the Bazaar and organizing his inventory, as he always does to start a session.
“Edgeworth is terrible!” is the response, and that causes Miles to pause, eyebrow rising ever higher. Because what are the odds that some defense attorney works in a situation that would bring him into contact with some other Edgeworth? Further, it suddenly occurs to Miles, in light of other evidence, who might take the username of Firebird, particularly since he doesn’t seem particularly careful with any of his other information. However, he pretends to be busy, letting possibly-Phoenix rant, especially as this doesn’t seem the time to confirm his suspicions. Possibly-Phoenix might accuse him of spying or something similar.
“He’s so smug and rude and he keeps making me look terrible in front of the judge! And it wouldn’t be half as annoying if he wasn’t so infuriatingly attractive! Bet he’d stop smirking at me if I kissed that off his annoyingly handsome face!”
Miles swallows, composure entirely gone, staring wide-eyed and in shock. It’s not as if his own sexuality was a particularly well-kept secret in the Prosecutor’s Offices, though knowing his likely old friend, it’s likely that he hadn’t even considered the possibility of reciprocation as he was trying not to assume based on stereotypes. Sweet, if, in Miles’ case, unnecessary. He’d never even considered romance with Phoenix, but it appears the man might be bisexual or something similar. Assuming everything does, in fact, line up in the way he suspects.
But he doesn’t know for sure, and he shouldn’t assume unless he’s ready for a confrontation. “It sounds as if you have a problem,” he responds as neutrally as he can.
“Ugh, yeah,” Firebird responds and then transitions to talking and asking about the game, while Edgeworth attempts to answer as normally and carefully as possible. It’s hard to tell if Firebird notices anything, although from the fact that he’s not asking about it, he probably hasn’t observed anything strange.
