Miles is playing a maxed out Demon’s Touch Cavalier Nekomata in a distinguished grey. He decided on a short samurai ponytail though.

Miles looks forward to the brief time he can avoid thinking about his coworkers, taking the briefest time off to work out his frustrations on demons or Shadows. He doesn’t have time to group, and doesn’t want to waste time in pointless socializing. That’s why it’s a problem when some low-level starts talking to him. “Hey, that armor’s from the limited time Evil Magistrate World Boss, right?”
He sighs and resigns himself to a lack of stress relief for today. It’s not as if he really has the time for this, after all. Von Karma would be disappointed in him.
However, apparently this upsets the other player, who quickly types a reply: “waitdont log off” and follows up with “didnt mean to scare you”.
Why is he even indulging this ridiculous display? “I am not scared. I am simply wasting time and getting distracted from work.”
The low-level doesn’t take the hint. “Hey, everyone needs to unwind sometime, right? Otherwise you’ll just snap.”
Miles does not respond. However, the fact that he hasn’t resumed logging off apparently was taken as encouragement, because the typing resumes. “I don’t actually know too much about the Steel Samurai myself. I’ve just heard my boss’s little sister talk about it. She was really bummed she missed the event.”
As crossovers go, Miles remembers it having been generously designed. “It was a fairly lengthy event.”
The other player continues, offering far more information than he should in a public area on the internet. “Yeah, but where she lives, she doesn’t actually have internet. She said she should’ve created her account and had us run it, though. ‘Course, at the time, I wasn’t around to be the intern to throw everything on, haha”
And yet more. What, is he trying to reveal his entire history over a public forum? “I actually started playing because the Chief was, and I just went through, uh. Let’s cal it a messy breakup. This is something she would’ve hated, and school is kinda stressful, so I’m speaking from experience about the snapping part. You’ve got to do something to stay sane.”
Mile sighs and begins typing a reply. “Why are you bothering me? Why tell your life story to a stranger and insist on trying to learn mine? You’ll find nothing there of interest to you.”
“See, that’s where you’re wrong!” Having seen the other player’s other typing, it’s clear that the exclamation point is for emphasis, not grammatical accuracy.
“When I was a kid, I got in trouble. But I had some friends to help me out. So now when I see people in trouble, well. I can’t just stand by and do nothing. Call it paying it forward.”
Admirable. Foolish, but admirable. “Perhaps I will see you later,” he types, and then sees if he can’t complete a few achievements quickly for the rewards. It’d be for the best if this is the last he hears from the low-level, but this sinking feeling says that’s an impossible desire.
