The Consortium is named after a particular kadou/ikebana arrangement (flower/plant arrangement) called the “Moonlight Tube” that represents the vitality of moonlight and only uses one plant. The Consortium has several kadou stores as fronts, and in addition she helps smuggle in exotic plants for expensive arrangements, food, medicine, or poisons, especially those from the Underworld.
The Matriarch herself is usually seen by those not in the know as a legitimate figure, since many of the businesses she runs are legitimate, if with an illicit flavor, and she’s called the Moonlight Lady. She also runs some of the nightlife in Western Japan, and earns quite a lot of money for the Clan this way, as well as giving them legitimately run businesses through which to launder money.
The Clan is also known to use the plants themselves, sometimes for poison. As such, several of their members could be seen as rivals to the Natsukawa-gumi.
