Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Summary: Jotaro's been exactly where Josuke is now.
Word Count: 825
Rating: Teen
Jotaro-san seemed to get some calm out of the water, though. Well. That might not be true. He might just generally be a calm guy. But still, maybe Josuke could feel a little more at ease if he goes and just stares at the ocean for a while, so one day after class, that’s exactly what he does. He needs it, anyway. He’s starting to snap at Okuyasu and Koichi from all the stress, and even though they get it and know he doesn’t mean it, he hates it every time.
He doesn’t hear someone else approach the little touristy outlook, though, too caught up in his own thoughts. “So, you weren’t born male,” a familiar voice rumbles.
“Jeez!” Josuke actually jumps, startled out of the angst by the sound of his nephew’s voice—like, when did the guy get so stealthy anyway? And he better not say anything. He’d hate to have to punch a family member he’s starting to get to like. How the hell to approach this, anyway? Start simple, that’s it. “Uh…did Mom tell you?”
Jotaro-san shakes his head, joining him by the railing in a way that is probably supposed to be casual and really, really isn’t. “The old man. Begged me for help, because he wants to help but doesn’t get it, because he was born that way.”
Josuke tries to get his heart rate and breathing under control, and—wait. “But he thought you could help.”
That might be the hint of a fond smile, maybe, even as Jotaro-san grabs the rim of his hat, pulling it down to hide his eyes. “Never mind getting hurt in a Stand battle. If Crazy Diamond is anything like Star, he probably regrets not being able to help with this more than anything else.”
Oh? Oh! And here he was wishing he could’ve been born like his tall buff nephew. But before he can ask another question, Jotaro-san continues, almost half to himself. “At least you can punch things.”
Josuke frowns. That doesn’t make any sense. “And you can’t?”
The man smirks, just slightly. “Not and not have people notice.” Which…leads to questions, and people worrying about him, and yeah, he can totally see them having that in common.
They stand in awkward silence for long enough Josuke feels like he has to break it, before his nephew speaks up again, this time looking at the water. “If you need help accessing hormones, or legal help, just ask. And I’d like you to make sure you’re…binding correctly.”
He’s still trying to seem confident, but he’s not as much as he appears, which is oddly reassuring. If Jotaro-san was as untouchable as he appears, he’d be harder to talk to, but as it is, the awkwardness is just enough to let Josuke believe his nephew cares and wants to help, nevermind the fact that this makes him more approachable. “It’s official. I like you better than Joestar-san,” he states cheerfully.
The white hat is just tugged lower, and the man’s definitely embarrassed. “I should’ve brought it up before now. It took the old—Joseph nagging me to talk.”
Josuke snorts. He might be getting along better with Joestar-san, but it’s still kind of nice to know he’d gotten mad on the Higashikata’s behalf (and, of course, for his own). Cathartic. “Don’t worry about it, Jotaro-san. It’s not like I brought it up on my own, either.”
The professor crosses his arms now, too. “No, but I’m the adult in this situation. I should have made it clear that it’s safe to talk about such topics, even if I didn’t talk about myself.”
“Yourself?” Josuke exclaims in delight, causing Jotaro to pull the hat even further, like he’s hoping to disappear entirely into it.
“I know being related to the Joestars has brought you nothing but trouble, but…if nothing else, the genetics are good for something.” And…well, it’s true. Josuke’s not as big or buff as his nephew, but he still has it fairly easy. No one questions his appearance, whether he looks too much like a girl.
“Hey, I wouldn’t say trouble’s the only thing I got. Sure, Joestar-san’s a ridiculous old man, but I’m so glad to have met you both.”
If anything, Jotaro-san looks even more embarrassed, but that might be a hint of a smirk.

Josuke’s not moping. Not really. He’d never really been all too concerned about comparing his family to others, because his mom was great and he didn’t know anything else. But suddenly Joestar-san and Jotaro-san are here, and while his giant buff nephew isn’t too bad, even if he is a little intimidating, it is just…weird, having Joestar-san around. Even weirder, because he has to pretend nothing’s going on around his mom and he’s pretty sure she sees right through him, but he doesn’t want to get into the awkward situation where they meet because he’s pretty sure it’s something even Crazy Diamond can’t fix.
