Shirogane is actually undercover as Shiro-kun, but Yosuke isn’t going to make him dress up in a skirt and make him uncomfortable. He was a bit confused when it turned out he’d made the perfect choice as to cabaret club to work for to look into the hostess murders though.
reminder for Chie's hostess name from the notes for A Better Day, also in this universe: Keiko
Also Yukiko is Yuki-chan because the idea of throwing another quirky Yuki-chan at Majima was too funny

pre-Yu/Yosuke, though Yosuke only worked it out this fic also possibly pre-or-current yukiko/chie

It’s a not-so-secret indulgence, Yu muses, coming to Junes.  But then, it’s easy enough to sneak under the radar.  Plenty of Yakuza visit one specific cabaret club and have a favorite girl.  It doesn’t look out of the ordinary at all.  No one has to know that he visits this one specifically for the wide smile and brief talk with the manager, instead, the man pretty enough to have been a host himself.  The man insists he wasn’t in that line of work, but he might be the type to feel embarrassed about the whole thing, and the pleased bashful blush at the compliment even as he’d denied it had been a high Yu’s been chasing ever since.
It’s been a long day between Tojo Clan business and looking into Yosuke-kun’s problem.  Before he’d found this little cabaret club tucked into what might be the closest thing Kamurocho has to a quiet corner, he might’ve gone to a sauna instead, to cool down, but these days to relax he heads down and talks to Yuki-chan or Rise-chan or Keiko-chan, even if the talks recently have turned to teasing about how much he’s crushing on Yosuke-kun.  It helps that his lieutenant Kanji-kun has eyes on Shiro-kun, who’s as mysterious as they come and might not even be a woman, despite their profession.  He doesn’t have to worry about Kanji-kun blabbing his secrets to anyone who shouldn’t hear them.  (Of course, he trusts his lieutenant, but still.  It’s a reassurance.)
It is slightly less relaxing when he enters the club only to find Yosuke-kun looks…well, a little rattled.
“I’m sorry, Seta-san, we’re a little busy at the moment.  Could you come back later?”  That’s not even his honest smile, but the fake-friendly one he uses when dealing with a problem customer.  Yu looks forward to seeing the true smile.
“Are you in trouble?” he asks quickly, lowering his voice so as hopefully not to alert the problem, if there is one.
“…No?”  It’s not particularly convincing, but Yu almost resigns himself to a lonely evening in his apartment with his latest book (and no, it wouldn’t be a waste, but he was looking forward to this)—
When there’s a laugh.  Two laughs.  Both of which he recognizes.  Yuki-chan, going into one of her fits, and another, who really shouldn’t be here.
He ignores Yosuke-kun’s protest and elbows his way past, Kanji-kun quickly following after, making his way to Majima-san’s table, Kanji-kun and Yosuke-kun following, Yosuke-kun following directly behind, complaint volume dying as they get closer.  What he’s about to do is taboo, and honestly he could be killed for this, but he can’t look at the scared look on Yosuke-kun’s face and do nothing.
“Majima-san, I wasn’t aware you frequented this cabaret club,” he states, respect coming through clenched teeth.
The laughs die, and Yu has a second to realize that Majima-san actually looked relaxed for a moment before the fangs come out.  “Yer kinda low on the ladder to be tryin’ to leash me, ain’t ya?”
Yosuke-kun speaks first.  “I-if you’re going to fight, I’m afraid we have to kick you out.”  His voice is shaking and Yu’s heart drops through his stomach, because he had the feeling would happen eventually and at the same time never wanted to see the handsome manager scared of him.
The Mad Dog leers and leans forward, like a puppy’s yapping at him.  “How ya plannin’ on makin’ me?”
Yu and Kanji-kun move forward, Kanji-kun eyeing the table, Yu putting a hand on his sword.
“Keiko-chan!” Yosuke-kun calls, and the hostess practically runs over and kicks Majima-san’s hand hard.  He doesn’t drop the knife, but he does look impressed.
He also leans back in the booth, making himself comfortable, the knife disappearing almost into thin air.  “Ya don’t need to fight me over yer man’s honor, Naru-chan.”
Yosuke-kun flushes bright enough for both of them and stumbles to an opposite couch as Keiko-chan exclaims, “Woah, hey, you okay, Manager-san?”  He nods and waves her off, focusing on his breathing, and Yu would like to check on him, too, but he’s too busy not showing weakness…
“Chie, I mean Keiko-chan!  That was so cool!  Yuki-chan looks like she has stars in her eyes; meanwhile, the other hostess rubs at the back of her neck, bashful.
        “Heh.  It was nothin’.”
“So…we’re not gonna fight after all, Aniki?” Kanji-kun asks, still ready just in case.
Majima-san growls in frustration as the other hostesses crowd around, drawn from their booths.  “Naw, we ain’t gonna fight, an’ I ain’t gonna go blabbin’ yer secrets neither!  So breathe, kiddo!”
That’s all Yu needs to realize he hasn’t been breathing, and abruptly he begins again.  The Mad Dog looks encouraging, which is surreal, but—that’s right, that means those rumors might be real after all.
He takes a seat at Majima-san’s table, smiling at the open confusion on the one-eyed man’s face.  “Are the rumors about you fighting the entire Dojima Family for the sake of a woman true?  We could use the backup.”
Yosuke-kun realizes what he’s asking before Majima-san, because he lets out a hushed “Seta-san…”
Yu sighs and responds without looking at him.  “It’s actually Narukami, now that you know for sure I’m yakuza, though you’re free to continue calling me whatever you’d like.  I’d like to continue to help, if you’d let me.”
Yosuke-kun’s voice is still small as he answers.  “I…wasn’t sure you’d want to, but…yeah.”  A glimmer of hope.
“I ain’t fightin’ another Family again.  Not even fer such an inspirin’ little duo such as yerselves,” Majima-san warns, which is pretty much an unspoken admission.
“Five years ago, a hostess named Saki Konishi was murdered, and she’s not the only one,” Yu begins bluntly, carefully watching Majima-san’s face.  Out of the corner of his eye he can see Yosuke-kun flinch a little, but he waves off Kanji-kun’s offered handkerchief.  Majima-san likely flinches, a burning anger in his eye as he casually leans forward.
“I ain’t got all the time I’d like, but ya sure know how to sell a man,” he admits, lilt in his voice promising blood and pain.
It’s an odd world where such is a reassurance, but he’ll take what he can get.
