Note: HERE THERE PROBABLY BE BUFFY/JJBA SPOILERS.

Xander watches, impressed, as the priest’s fingers fly over the keyboard.  He only pauses occasionally to draw symbols in front of the screen with a stylus kind of like one from Nintendo’s handheld system.  He’d been meaning to check it out, but he’d been in Africa and then a little too busy.  Computers have gotten more advanced since he last saw them, but then, it’s not like Giles was the type to talk about them, either, and he’d barely gotten to see Willow when she was at HQ, what with her being really busy.  Then again, he suspected that Styx had made some mods of his own.  For one thing, he’s pretty sure the screens don’t flash by that quickly on a standard computer.  Johan’s still stuffing his face, but then, he hadn’t even gotten to take the shower, let alone eat and replenish his strength.  At least everything was in a good enough condition for Mrs. Patel to go to town.
“It might interest you to know,” Styx confirms, conversation not impacting his concentration at all, “…that the cameras showed all zombies turning to ash at the same time, as well as Bruford, unfortunately.  I saw no signs of anything resembling a vampire or zombie in the immediate area, and a diagnostic spell confirmed these findings.”
“So we can be pretty sure Miss Murder did undo whatever she was doing.”  Beefheart wants confirmation, and Johan can’t blame her.
“As sure as we can be without hearing it from the rabbit’s mouth,” Styx agrees cheerfully.  “Though unless someone teleported them away, we can be sure, as the spells even go underground into the cave system you were so cleverly using.”
That’s a relief.  He briefly considers mentioning his encounter with Dio to Jotaro before deciding against it.  The stoic marine biologist might claim he’s absolutely fine; there’s no reason to tiptoe around the subject.  From a quick glance through his brain and how much damage the man’s done to the entire Joestar family line, it’s a clear lie.
“Willow would geek out over meeting you,” he responds, because she absolutely would.
“Miss Rosenberg?  In London, currently working with the Devon Coven?”  He chuckles at the raised eyebrow.  “I’d sent an email asking about a trivial matter, given what some of the others have said about her, but I assume she’s been too busy to answer my inquiry—and for good reason, given what I’m reading about Wolfram & Hart.  They’ve used magical wardings and the usual security firms, but it appears my brand of magic is far beyond their area of expertise.”  He shrugs.  “I suppose I shall have to have a chat with the bishop about this sin, but really, I can’t just stand by and do nothing as evil triumphs—ah.”
The screens flickering suddenly stops, and Johan leans in to look.  Fitz, who so far had mostly showed an interest in making sure Jojo wasn’t falling over, crowds in a little, too, having realized that whatever this is must be a major revelation, to stop the priest in his tracks like that.
“I can’t see from here,” Darling complains, and Johan would laugh if the situation wasn’t so serious.
Because it looks like that, right there, is confirmation that Wesley’s been a naughty boy, used him, and is just about to do something potentially catastrophic.  It suddenly makes everything pretty clear, though, why he’d needed someone to steal the Stone Mask, why he’d been distracting everyone with the Stand Users he’d made, why he’d been so busy.  There’s also some odd and slightly concerning internal documents indicating that the Fabled Chalice of Distrust (not actually labeled that way, as it doesn’t seem like demon lawyers have a sense of humor) was more…them taking advantage of a situation and effect they’d noticed rather than a specific spell they’ve used, but they can worry about that later.
Because there, finally, is the name of the type of Old One Wesley’s planning on becoming, through the Ascension ceremony.  Maybe it wouldn’t matter to, say, Giles, who would have a more academic, distanced view of the matter, with the attitude of ‘well, any type of Old One is a problem’.  But—all right, it’s not personal experience, but Jojo has the memories of someone who had, and apparently, Pillar Men and Women get labeled as ‘just another type of Old One demon’ to your average magical researcher.  It does recontextualize a lot, though.  Pillar Men might not be giant snakes that need to be destroyed in a volcano, no, but they’re smaller, smarter, and just as dangerous, and Joseph’s not quite as egotistical as to believe he didn’t make it through all that and save the world without a huge helping of luck.  Sure, he might claim that to an outsider, but it’s much more difficult to lie in your own head, or a Pretender-made simulation of that.
The Stone Mask wasn’t made for making more Pillar Men and women.  It was specifically to make them food.  Or—
They were having population problems, supposedly.  And while Kars was fine with violence, most of the rest were generally a peaceful people, aside from the lifeforms they absorbed for food.  So it’s not inconceivable that some enterprising member of their society had researched a way to repurpose it, and that an ambitious human hadn’t figured out a way to combine that with an Ascension ritual.
Whatever.  No matter how it happened, it’s kind of a huge, glaring problem now, and like it or not, it’s his problem to deal with—but luckily, not his alone.  He’s got a good team, and the other Joestars aren’t gonna let this go, either, though it might take them a little while to show up, and given by the fact that they have less than 24 hours before the ceremony is scheduled to take place (something about the stars being right), they probably don’t have the time to sit on their asses and wait for backup, either.
“I’ll coordinate any efforts from here and see if my veritable legion of contacts can’t be useful for more than just a little light show,” Styx suggests before Johan even gets a chance to speak.  “I’d join you, but I wasn’t entirely kidding about a place of power, and whatever use I’d have outside of this church is highly diminished by how many powerful and intricate spells I’ve been using without rest.  Besides, someone needs to keep an eye on young Pixie.”
“I’ll get the helicopter ready,” Robin jokes.
