Buffy kind of gets to be a more active Daigo.  Her mother was super important in the Clan and having real friends is kinda hard, but at the same time she doesn’t have that many she can trust.  And she’s also Kiryu in that she’s an active character and is at the same time wise and naïve.

…Hang on, I’ve got legit underworld as well as underworld in this story.  So some characters legit could come back from the dead.  I can’t imagine it’s easy.  I can imagine they hold this big elaborate funeral ceremony, and then after the death of every Chairwoman there’s a ritual travel to the realm of the dead to bargain for the return of the Chairwoman’s soul.  It happens only rarely, and they don’t usually get an explanation for it.  Renyo|Buffy was granted a return (aside from the “stopped breathing for a few moments” nonsense; her soul hadn’t made the transition yet) and it was said it was due to her importance to the world of the living, though that statement was never qualified or explained.  Once granted, the title is given as if she’s her own successor (so Buffy gets to be the Fifth and Sixth Chairwoman). 

Miyamoto gets her own ‘receive you’, though I don’t know that there’s any other remixes.  She’s really fond of Enemy, another Blue Stahli song, but I just stumbled across Celebrity Mashup by Blue Stahli and boy does it fit her.  It sounds like a fighting theme, it’s quirky, it’s got some quieter moments, and the little flute flourishes (I think it’s a flute) really seal the deal.

Anya’s a mercenary of sorts in the Japanese underworld.  She’s known for haggling and only going for grudges.

…sukeban is girl boss and apparently that was a big thing.  It’s slang, though, so not everyone would use it, but I should work that in somewhere.  Hmm.

I legit didn’t think about it but Buffy’s irezumi being an Oni Slayer is also a statement, since the Oni Alliance is a joke that I made that is actually a thing.

Apparently there’s an actual character used in irezumi, Shoki, that I…kinda completely missed.  As he’s a popular Chinese folklore demon slayer.  I still like Renyo|Buffy’s design, but might have gone with that one if I’d known.

Miyamoto, I’m pretty sure, is one of the only alternates I’ve written that would get along with Canon!Xander nearly instantly.  She’d get in his face, realize pretty quickly that he’s uncomfortable, back off, and dedicate the rest of their time getting to know each other to geeking out.  She doesn’t see him as lesser, though as genderfluid she probably finds him being born a guy fascinatin’.  And she’d take him seriously, because she knows exactly what they’re capable of, even without the powers.  That being said, if she ever learns about how he’d treated Cordy and especially about the Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered episode he is getting an Ivanova style lecture.

Britain’s a lot smaller.  Both the Celts and the Romans had magic, leading to tragedies and finally a truce, but Ireland is free (and very egalitarian).
