madimpossibledreamerI was not planning on everyone, especially Willow, finding out. it just kind of happened. Weirdly enough, that also seems to have done the trick for preventing teen drama. I don’t even know these things
Also I just now realized that willow has some things in common with Yukiko (the romantic waiting for the prince to come save them rather than take initiative/action themselves) and am freaking out, brb

Chapter Summary: Willow finally gets in contact with Xander, magically.

Warnings: Very, very oblique references to the stuff with Jesse in this 'verse, quick but blunt mentions of probably-canonical-though-to-what-extent-is-anyone's-guess abuse from Tony Harris, and also oblique references to the fact that Xander's currently kidnapped and chained and being tortured. None of it is graphic or lingered on, but I thought I'd warn anyway.
He snorts to himself. Some Prince. It’s not like the pain doesn’t hurt. It’s just…not the same like it would be for a mortal prince. He assumes. It’s this weird thing where intellectually he knows it was different, but the actual comparison doesn’t feel real. They’d gotten very creative, and it’s not like he’s healing, so the pain hasn’t gone away. He’s used to pain being a temporary thing.
The worst part is Jesse. He’s not really here; he’s dust. Yet he’s here, whispering in Xander’s head, and they’ve chained his arms so he can’t claw him out.
There’s someone else here too, friendly, chatty, but it probably doesn’t even exist and he’s having trouble making sense of words.
It’s the horror shocking her out of some sort of weird rage-state that gets it through to him that gets him to realise this isn’t just another illusion. He panics and tries to force her out, but he’s too weak to make it stick.
Oh, Xander. Why didn’t you tell me? She sounds miserable.
I was supposed to save you from the pain, is the only response he can give. He hopes she didn’t see all of it, because some pain really is for his eyes only.
I don’t want to buy my happiness from your pain! It’s loud, actually gives him a vague headache. I want you to be happy, too.
He manages a smile that turns to more of a mocking grimace when he hears a crack. But Will—I am happy. Sure, this right now kinda sucks, but it’s temporary. I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I might be a loser, but I was able to give two refugees a home. I was able to reunite Tristan and Elaine, to save that lady’s dog, to give that teacher a new life. Dad’s not beating on me or telling me what a waste of space I am. I eat the best food of my life when I want. I’ve got friends, and a lot of weapon sort-of-friends. I can fight back. Babylon 5 is still going.
He’s not sure if he’s made it better or worse, because she stifles a sob. He snaps at limbs when they come too close, manages to draw blood. He licks his lips and finds it’s not, like it would be for Kryvi, somewhere in here, his cup of tea. He does enjoy the taste of fear, though. It’s carrying him through right now. I could do the Snoopy Dance. Would that help?
You’re impossible. Something broke; he felt it break. But it’s better now, stronger. Maybe he’s stronger too. You can’t do that anyway; you’re chained. Can you tell me where exactly you are?
He considers that seriously. I remember a…it wasn’t a church, but it kinda looked like one on the inside? Pseudo-church? Mandala things everywhere, and then Morden—wait, no. He’d started with trying to recite from memory every line starting with The Gathering, but then things started getting weird around the point Captain Kirk fought in the Earth-Minbari war, and it came to his attention it wasn’t working as well as he thought. Though there were a few similarities between himself and Sinclair right now. Sorry, that part was a hallucination. I hadn’t gotten to that episode anyway. There was a corridor, and then this kinda feels like a dungeon sorta place.
She pauses, attention elsewhere. Like she’s talking to someone right now. And a thread of worry snakes through him, and suddenly all her attention is back. Xander?
Are you in the field? Why are you in the field? You’re not… He’s babbling, composure a little broke, and it feels like she mentally reaches out and squeezes his shoulder.
I think I scared people, whoops. She sounds a little sheepish now. You remember how you go all grr, argh? I kinda did that.
…You’re half devil too? He would’ve noticed, wouldn’t he?
Apparently I was exorcising people with my mind. Freaky. I got a little carried away, but one of those demon things came after me and made me scary and angry and I’m guessing it was probably Raga or Kama-raga. I exploded her. She’d felt…distant? Unapproachable? He’d tried to be himself, to watch more B5 or the Bollywood films with her, but she wasn’t relaxed, and he couldn’t be. Didn’t want to force it, even though she’d pouted when he’d suggested maybe they didn’t have to do it? Didn’t want to be someplace he wasn’t wanted. Now she feels like herself again, just a little stronger.
Well, I don’t want to distract you, and I think they might be villain-monologuing. Villainologing. Don’t get hurt, and I’ll see you on the other side. He feels his tail flick against a restraint (huh, that is just weird).
We’re going to have to make new kidnap rules. She sounds half amused, half angry about that, but mentally hugs him before cutting the connection.
