Xander really has to keep in mind the dodging thing.  He’s never felt so ‘in the zone’ before.  It turns out his arm and leg spikes can be used as weapons, too, which he’s going to need more practice with hand-to-hand combat, because that’s not his strong suit.  It feels natural to fade into the dark just a second before an attack and pop up elsewhere.  It works best to knock one, two, three into the air then use Arawn, and the Shaede definitely aren’t adapting as well as he is.  He can feel their frustration, as they’re used to easy targets, while he’s having the time of his life.  He’s getting hit at least a little less often, which is progress.
Gjallar dives, grabbing one in her claws, dragging it, struggling, into the air, ripping it savagely apart with her beak before swallowing it whole, or letting out a screech that appears to damage every Shaede on the battlefield.  The Fae are doing well, though more fighting as a group.  Their weapons are fantastic, and he kind of wants one, but it appears they don’t heal as quickly.  He has a feeling most of them could heal from being cut up entirely, but it’d probably take centuries, which would be annoying.  Buffy…Buffy’s form is beautiful.  She’d been a little distracted at first but she’d pulled herself together from whatever was bothering her soon enough.  If he wants some lessons in how not to get hit, he doesn’t think he could look for a better teacher.  He’s pretty sure that’s cheerleading or gymnastics, because the amount of cartwheels, back-and-forward flips, and slight sidesteps just in the nick of time are pure art.  She knows exactly when to sheathe the short swords, and sheathing and unsheathing them is merely the work of a second.  She’s gotten the hang of Eghira and Asmosaos, too, judging by the number of Shaede that teleport into a spot only to find a puddle and the Slayer with a smile and a sword that calls lightning waiting.  Particularly impressive, since it’d taken him forever to figure out how the hell a rain Devil Arm could be used in combat.
At some point, his Spiky Form had run out, though his energy certainly hadn’t.  He could do this all day.  Buffy’s inspired him to new heights.  He figured out running into a shadowstep keeps the momentum, somehow, even if it doesn’t feel like it makes sense, and if he stabs out of it the Shaede tend to fall or otherwise be stunned.  He’ll have to remember that move.  It works even better when he orders Kalvul to extend as he moves (that one, Buffy can take credit, again).
And then there’s another frustrated war cry.  I’ll dO tHIs MySelF!”  She’s definitely sounded better.
“Big boss time,” he concludes, licking his lips.  Personally, he’d had one or two better fights—that fire demon that had burned down the old abandoned high school comes to mind—but having allies, sharing in the fun and showing him new and exciting ways to fight?  How can he resist?
“Do you play a lot of videogames?”  That’s one of the Fae to his left, and for whatever reason (Fae humor, probably) she’s wearing her maid outfit.
They watch as many of the Shaede swirl toward her, gathering up, and as her form begins to change, becoming a larger, monstrous Shadow form, with too many legs and arms.  Xander can’t wait.  “You can say that.”
Most of the Fae are gathering up, though a few remain to mop up the stragglers who haven’t joined the Amalgam.  That is its boss name now, he’s decided by committee of one, with no takebacks.
“That is one of the ugliest things I’ve seen in my life,” Buffy agrees, Eghira in hand, resting Asmosaos casually over her shoulder, and she sends a grin his way, too.  She’s enjoying herself, too, which is a good thing.  She’s been a little too cooped up.  “Ready to cut it down to size?”
          “Let’s,” Kryvi agrees.
Xander’s only answer is a responding grin.
“Mr. Giles better hurry, before there’s nothing left to cut,” Maid Fae responds with a smirk, and then they’re racing to get to it first.
