Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Game Review/Commentary 76

Wait.  That’s not right. [Prince]  (Don’t you insult my music choices which are mine.) 

Do you hear that, them saying Prince?  That’s you. 

Well.  No no no, that didn’t happen. [Prince]  Oh, right, there’s still one.  There we go.  Oh.  So I think it’s at the end of when he finishes the sound.  …Maybe. 

I hate this section so much.  This is almost as bad as the baths. 

Thanks, Prince, that is a bat.  I want to hit it.  *sighs* 

They never expect that.  And that one always gets lost.  (The tiredness just hit me.  I’m slurring.) 

So what I’m listening for is not the sound of him hitting the wall, it’s the sound of him finishing the grunt.  Or whatever.  Let’s see if I can’t find it. 

You know, I’m going to try something else.  And if it works, I’m completely lost, but.  Let’s see.

So right mouse is actually a bad thing here, then. {roommate}  Not necessarily.  I think it is the thing that it does make it faster, but I don’t think it has any other difference.  Which does help with getting through this part. {roommate}  Yeah.  It’s nice to be able to go through this slightly faster. 

I thought of something else I’m going to try, and if it works I’m going to be really, really mad.  Stabbing the Prince in the stomach, perhaps? {roommate}  (Nah, that’s something to do after I try it and it works, except not really because I wouldn’t want to have to go through it again.)  Ah.  Try King Crimson through the heart. 

No, but seriously, what is it? {roommate}  If we can do that inside the tower.  Oh, uh. {roommate}  ‘Cause that’s not what the other guy did.  The other person did.  So it didn’t even occur to me.  But if I get that far and it turns out I can actually do that the entire time, Imma be mad.  Yeah.  I’m going to guess odds are good you probably can’t, but. {roommate} Yeah.  I’m guessing that’s just going to have him falling to his death again, but if it doesn’t…

I’m probably giving up and playing a little Devil May Cry soon, because this is DRIVING ME INSANE.  Yeah.  Well, there’s not…the way past this section is not something we can do right now.  It is an aural, but the fact that we don’t have a save point for it means it’s a big problem. {roommate}  Yeah. If we had an aural cue, er, a save point, I’d be able to figure out what the aural cue was. {roommate}  Right.  Because I think it’s slightly different than what I was doing for the other thing.  There is a sound cue for it. {roommate}  Yeah.  But.  It’s… {roommate} 

Sometimes I think doing this one would be slightly easier because she helps you out if you make a mistake so you never get punished for anything that you do wrong.  (Prince of Persia 2008.)  It seems really, really dumb, but.  (Ad plays)  Not brought to you by any ads.  Right.  This is the part where he’s being dumb and losing his dagger…okay, I’m not to that part yet.  Not even to that part. 

Okay, you must…As far as the timing on the button presses, is that any different from what you’ve done? {roommate}  I don’t think so?  Okay.  I’m guessing it has to be directions, then.  I didn’t try inverting the directions that I was pressing.  I don’t think it was that, though.  I think it’s just that you have to be pressing the buttons at the exact right moments. {roommate} 

See, I…if it’s working on part but not the whole thing, then.  How??  You know?  Yeah. {roommate}  How was it wrong if it works for part of it?  I’m going to try to go back over here and see if I can’t tell soundwise what I’m doing but I think I’m done, basically.  Yeah.  So the timing was right on that. {roommate}  Yeah.  If anything, it’d be faster. {roommate}  Yeah. 

I’m just like, I’ve made it through three wall jumps before that point.  Yeah. {roommate}  How am I doing it wrong? 

Hmm.  Maybe it’s because you’re going down? {roommate}  That is true.  (The ones I had the most problems with at the baths were also going down.) 

Also, see the dumb flying rodents in the background?  I don’t know why it would be different going down though!  Let’s leave it for now. {roommate}  Yeah.  But what I’m thinking is, try to get down this one safely. {roommate}  Okay. 

Press the down directional at the same time you’re jumping. {roommate}  See, I’m pressing down and he’s just going up.  Yeah. {roommate}  So I’m thinking he just goes in a direction depending on where you are…  Okay, so there’s no way to force him to go down. {roommate}  No.  Not that I can tell. 

Strange.  Do you not want to be a help on this, Prince?  Fall to your death like all those other times? {roommate}  *nervous laughter* 

Okay, so. {roommate}  Maybe I’ll hold both at the same time.  Nope.  Okay.  So he’ll just naturally go a direction.  {roommate}

So my recommendation, then, would be to attempt jumping from various points on the wall. {roommate}  Yeah.  I mean, it’s going to be wrong, and it’s not going to be what the youtuber showed you, but there’s got to be a way. {roommate}  I’m going to see… ’cause there was one thing I noticed about this one.  Where this guy was jumping was slightly further this way than the other guy. 

That might be because you’re on the PC version. {roommate}  Well, I think…actually, that’s true.  I don’t know what version this one is.  But.  *sigh*

At least we’ve got a working theory of what it is now. {roommate}  Yeah.  We can figure out the exact details. {roommate} 

One of the other things I can try is to keep on restarting the game.  Because I noticed that one part that did give me issues I quit and came back and it was better.  It is true that some of these bugs do apparently fix themselves if you quit and come back.  So that’s also another possibility we can try, maybe.  Yeah. {roommate}  *frustrated noise*
