Alexandria Urahara, as she now thought of herself, first came to terms with her existence on what could normally be described as a horrible day.
Angst was the normal vocation of a teenager, no matter how old-and it had often been argued that Kisuke Urahara was, mentally, a lot younger than he should be-lazy, irresponsible, loves candy... Alex herself was young enough to be insecure about all the normal things, and a few that weren't normal. Boys, the fact that she wasn't a typical girl (which she was completely okay with, except for the fact that it made people look at her funny-and she felt that it wasn't that weird and why could people never just accept that?), whether she would ever be loved. About her parents and her friends and the fact that even Willow didn't exactly see or understand her. And then all the Hellmouthy things, whether the world would end before she even graduated high school, or whether she'd be eaten or turned into a monster.
All very pressing concerns, Urahara had to admit, and he was no stranger to concerns. His zanpuktou, corrupted as it was, worried him. His friends noticing, and hurting them (or practically anyone else who could potentially be involved in the equation). Science, as fun as it was, and its potential dangers. (He wouldn't have even considered said dangers if he hadn't been set on the worrying track by Kodokuseishin first. He wasn't sure whether that made him a better or worse person.) He wasn't even quite sure about the nature of his existence anymore, especially since he didn't have the ability to think through extremely complex concepts anymore (which meant he was unable to reason his way to an answer on the topic). He somewhat suspected he was merely a facet of Alex's personality now, but that was merely a guess.
A regular day included a lot of worrying about these things, and joking and acting like it didn't matter to fob off worry from anyone else (they had their worrying taken care of, thank you!)
This was not their regular day.
Alex woke up with a terrible migraine. She attempted to eat a little, but quickly found that her stomach didn't agree with her intentions today (and it usually put up with just about anything). She was shivering quite a lot. The thing to do, Urahara agreed, was to curl up under a bunch of blankets and wait for the flu to pass.
She quickly found herself sleeping the day away, with a few odd dreams (one including a strange guy offering her cheese).
((What happens next? Well, I was thinking of having Dawn come in, because I'm pretty sure she's one of the underlings, but they graduate high school before Dawn comes around. Don't think Anya's there, at least not to the extent she is later. Urahara figures out her Magic Box-I want to run a magic store/candy store-thing, and realizes that worrying isn't going to help her any.))
