At any rate, I do have a couple of things I need to finish up. {Roommate} Right, sorry. I just… No, it’s… {Roommate} I was so close to raging. And I was like ‘do I actually want to do this today?’ and realized ‘yes, well, if I don’t do this today I will have to do this later.’ Yeah. {Roommate} And that was the point at which I went ‘help is needed’. No worries. Yeah. {Roommate}
Thank you so much. Thank you, Prince, for finally stopping being a complete and utter moron. Yeah, well, it’s important to maintain support whether it’s in the big things or the little things. {Roommate} Yeah. No, I do like being able to hand off the controller to someone else, and you actually are pretty good with a controller (neither of us has had much experience), so if we ever do a coop ‘let’s get each other through the rage portions of games’ we’d actually do pretty good. Yeah. Well, there’s certain sections I’m good at and I think the directional one is one I actually get. {Roommate}
You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to return to the thing and save again. Just to make sure, because I…
Hello. {Roommate} Yes. Please. Done. I’ll start the story from here next time. [Prince] Oh, hey. {Roommate}
But yeah, I’ve been in prison and she’s just like “I had nothing happen to me. I’m completely fine." Do you wish me to leave before I finish my story? [Prince] You’re not leaving, Prince. You’re just going to sleep. {Roommate} Yes. And hopefully next time it won’t take as long. Hopefully next time you wake up on the right side of the bed. {Roommate} That too. And not the ‘I’m going to commit suicide again’ part of the bed. Because seriously.
Yeah, I… {Roommate} Ugh. There are certain games I can never see myself actually finishing. It’s not Getting Over It With Bennet Foddy… {Roommate} Yeah, no. I can’t even see myself starting that, because… {Roommate} Yeah, no. …I don’t play games that are solely intended to enrage someone. {Roommate} Right. Which, despite what the person (creator) says, I am completely convinced that is actually its intended purpose.
Right. Well, you know it’s…You can argue it’s because you’re doing the blocky, weird style of gameplay. {Roommate} But that doesn’t even work because…the thing is, the controls are purposefully made to not work really well, so. (Roommate’s voice got really far off; I can’t hear a thing he’s saying.)
In this one you can tell it is designed and meant to actually function. Right. Well, the controls are meant to produce a uniform result. {Roommate} Right.
The reason that they do not in Prince of Persia is because they didn’t do a perfect job on the PC… {Roommate} Right. Apparently the PC port is super glitchy.
And that’s the reason. For something like Getting Over It, the reason is pain. {Roommate} Yeah. The reason is to cause pain to other people. {Roommate} Right. It’s…I mean, you can come up for different explanations, but you’re not going to. {Roommate}
I am thinking when I finish it I am going to at least grab the saves for a couple of these things so I can just replay the fun parts. Yeah, no. That’s probably a good idea. {Roommate}
And/or, eventually I might buy it on Playstation. Playstation console. Because I do have to assume, given all the reviews, given all that sort of thing, it’s one of those games that really only works if you’ve got the original form. It’s… {Roommate} Right.
It’s…Fatal Frame 2. {Roommate} The only thing I remember about that game is Markiplier being weird about butterflies. He was…he didn’t really get the appeal of the game. Part of that is that it was an old game. {Roommate}
To be fair, his playthrough was actually enjoyable, but he didn’t understand what was happening. Part of it was the eastern thing. {Roommate} Yeah. He doesn’t get the eastern horror, which was important. It’s really essential to enjoying that game. But I have to imagine it did go better in its original form. {Roommate}
Some things just don’t have a good port. Some things don’t have a good port. Some things are just not going to get a good port. I’m still waiting for a proper update of Oregon Trail. {Roommate} (laughs)
Well, I do actually have on my wishlist. I think for Vita. There’s Organ Trail. Right. {Roommate} And I know almost nothing about it except that there’s zombies. Yeah, it was interesting. I think I remember…having either watched or done one of those? It’s been a while, though. It’s—yeah, it’s one of those things I can’t really say for sure. {Roommate} Right.
Yeah, I didn’t get as much done as I was hoping to, but you know, that’s... {Roommate}
You got something very important done, though. I did. {Roommate} And I massively appreciate it. Because…I just…that section, with the Prince, is just like, yeah, no, I get that you need to…you’re slightly too dense for your own good because you step on tables and you break—that’s a thing—but your suicidal tendencies on the other hand…were you just…we were trying to talk to you telling you ‘work with us’ and you turn in the opposite direction and jump off the ledge…
You know, I honestly get it. He’s been through a lot. He’s had a very rough life. But at the same time, we can get you through things. We can help you, man. {Roommate} (My roommate sounds like a therapist here. I mean, he’s talking physically, but still. The Prince probably does need therapy.)
I assume that just like Steins;Gate if you continue going through time loops, particularly if you keep dying over and over I assume that does dumb things to your brain. Yeah, it does warp your perspective a little at that. {Roommate}
At the same time…progress is progress. You don’t want to take five hours to get through a thing. (Relatively, as a time loop resets it.) Maybe he does. I don’t know. {Roommate} I would think not. He was separated from the woman he was falling in love with for reasons that I somehow missed…a lot of the cutscenes… Great example of bridges here. And there we go. {Roommate}
And yeah, that pretty much covers it. {Roommate} Thank you for breaking the glitch. I yeah. No, I was…that was a new one. {Roommate}
‘Cause even when I had to do jumps off of buttons like that previously and it hasn’t been a problem and I assume that if I do the exact same thing I’ve done before and it doesn’t work, that’s probably a glitch.
Indeed. Well, yes, it’s…The button presses are designed a little differently than I think anything else in the game. {Roommate} Gotcha.
I don’t know if you saw, but. {Roommate} I did notice it’s kind of like…I think it’s a future game. But there are shutters that you jump off of and your momentum of it doing a thing propels you somewhere.
The way I figured out jumping, right? {Roommate} Yeah. You had to listen for him finishing the button press. With the sound of the button press. If you move before that, it doesn’t count it. Now, that doesn’t make it logical, because he’s going to hit the button at the same time he jumps back. Honestly, that section you probably didn’t need precise button timing, but that’s why it worked that way. {Roommate} Okay.
I still have yet to figure out the wallslap thing, though. Yeah, the wallslap thing is probably a port thing. {Roommate} I feel like that is a glitch. Which nobody has actually said anything online about it, which is weird. They’re just like ‘if you’re having trouble with the wall jump timing, your timing is off’. And I’m like, “But sometimes he slaps the wall, and sometimes he hits the wall with his feet.” And if he hits the wall with his feet, it’s a timing thing. Because if he hits the wall with his feet, you can always jump. Right. {Roommate} But if he slaps the wall, there’s nothing I’ve found that actually gets him to jump. And that’s a thing that seems to be decided midair, and I don’t think you’re supposed to be hitting the jump button or any other button midair, so. Uggh. That’s probably the single most frustrating thing is that I can’t figure out what’s up with the wallslap. Unless he’s attempting to slap me through the screen. The wallslap…I have to assume that the way it works is that it doesn’t register a jump is immediately happening. So it just pretends it doesn’t…it doesn’t have the mechanic. So, yeah. {Roommate} Gotcha.
Yeah, right. Well. Be seeing you. {Roommate} Be seeing you.
