(Roommate proceeds to mess up with the Sands of Time) That’s not what happened. [Prince] Yes it is.  Screw you, man, this is my story; I’ll tell it how I want. {roommate}  (laughs) 

Retry is circle.  Got it. {roommate} 

Square is down.  But…not all the way down.  You keep holding it until he’s where you want him to be.  You want him to go that way—thanks, Camera.  That’s so helpful.  I think you’re about the right—no, don’t drop onto the spikes—you dropped onto the spikes.  You’re actually dead right now unless you turn back time.  What you have to do is look behind you and jump onto that column.

Let’s see…looking behind you was this button… {roommate} Well, behind is actually the back button, unless…wait, right, from this angle…thanks, Camera, you’re just really…yeah.  No.  No. 

Just get me back to the part. {roommate}  Okay.  I don’t even know what the camera is doing at this point, so.  Camera, stop. Down. 

Okay, so remember to hold down the L2 button until you’re somewhere…Prince, what are you actually even holding?  He’s holding air. {roommate}  Well, I didn’t get him to do it again but that’s fine ‘cause that’s not even supposed to happen.  This game has problems. {roommate}  It’s a bit glitchy.  It’s a great game, but it’s also a bit glitchy. 

Okay, this is looking back… {roommate} That was the fall button.  You had to press the jump button, which is the x.  Right.  {roommate} 

That was the attack with sword button.  Okay, looking back. {roommate} 

Jump.  That didn’t happen. [Prince] Yes it did. {roommate} 

I think it might be slightly broken right now.  It might be. {roommate}  Which is a shame because—(Sands of Time sound) Okay, admittedly I did waste that a little. {roommate}  I’ve done that.

(laughs) Camera, you’re useless.  That wasn’t what I asked for. {roommate}  Nope.

(Prince dies, we both start laughing) Okay, that was great. {roommate}  He’s not even gonna try anymore. 

Prince, stop leaping to your death.  I’m so sorry. {roommate} 

Please stop.  Prince, you’re fairly useless.  Yeah.  Maaaan. {roommate} 

(We both start laughing again because he’s done it again) Okay, you know what. {roommate}  He’s just decided he no longer wants— (Prince just jumps off again and at this point we’re both losing it)

(Guessing a Prince that didn’t happen quote occurred here) Yes it is; stop dying. {roommate}  You know this game would be a lot easier if you just stopped dying, Prince.  Okay, that was—that was pretty good. {roommate} 

I’ll get it, you know. {roommate} 

Yeah. (roommate sighs) Camera. {roommate} 

I do actually like the platforming when it’s not being glitchy.  The problem is right now it’s just being super glitchy. 

All right. {roommate}  You want him to be facing that way.  Right. {roommate} 

Do you think the problem is facing? {roommate}  Facing?  Yeah, like—he has to jump this way, right? {roommate}  Yeah. 

Dude, you did it.  Briefly.  All right, so I’ll leave it to you, but I think the deal is that you have to hold down the right arrow key when he’s doing it. {roommate}  It hasn’t had to do that before, though.  It does here.  At a minimum it makes it actually possible, so. {roommate}  (I’ve looked this up since and there is no consensus.  Some posters say yes, some say no, and it’s an older game so a definitive answer might be hard to find.)

What did you even grab there?  Death. {roommate}  I mean, yeah, but—there’s a rainbow over there. 

All right, get me to there; I’m going to try it this way. {roommate}  Okay.  We’ll see if it works. {roommate}  Okay. 

How long d’ya want to help me do this, by the way?  Just through this part. {roommate}  ‘kay. 

I think I’ve figured it out, so, y’know.  At a minimum I’ve got part of it figured out, so. {roommate} Right. 

Given my prior experience…{roommate}  See, the weird thing is, in all previous wall jump things you don’t have to hold down arrow keys.  You just have to hold down the x button at the proper time.   Right. {roommate} 

Okay, so he went there…and it did work that way before…{roommate}  Which is why I’m thinking it’s just being glitchy, because…and then he just decided to hit the wall with his hands. 

No no no, that didn’t happen, may I start again?  [Prince] Yes. {roommate} 

So, from what I can tell the key is hitting the arrow buttons at the same time as the jump button for this.  It should be fine.  You’ll need to get off that platform pretty quick, though, so. {roommate}  Yeah.  No, seriously, I have done this before, believe it or not.  No, I believe it. {roommate} 

Like I was saying, it doesn’t require the arrow keys for the jump stuff in any other section(or this one the last time I did it for that matter) so I don’t know why it would here, but. 

(He got me through the section)  Move it. {roommate}  Yep.  Thank you.  Yeah. {roommate} 

So that part was you had to hit the arrow buttons for no good reason?  That, or the directional ensures you might actually move it that way, so. {roommate}  I just ask because that’s really weird because it doesn’t ask you to do that in any other part.  Although it could explain that when it—the game sometimes thinks that it needs that… Yeah. {roommate}   That could explain the other part in the baths where I needed to use the Sands—it was basically like the wall jump but it was going up—Yeah. {roommate}  And I basically had to use the sands of time to rewind it to midway through the jump so he’d stop slapping the wall.  Yeah, so that’s my guess. {roommate}  Whenever he hit the wall with his feet but he wouldn’t.  My guess—and this is just a guess, but—my guess is that something like that specifically.  The reason that he would hit the wall with his hands is because he’s still going that direction. {roommate}  Gotcha.  So there was something weird with the whole programming of it, basically.  That or they made it unnecessarily hard, but. {roommate}  Well, no, I say that because I said it doesn’t always work like that so when it does it’s weird.
