Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Game Review/Commentary 34

Welcome to the prestream that isn’t actually a stream.  Today is, aside from the fact that my head feels like it’s filled with cotton, a good day.  And I spent forever just now trying to cook mushrooms.  Ugh.  I love mushrooms, but that was a long time.  That was, what, an hour and a half? 

I have tea, which is good.  And it is day of Jojo’s, day of posting Jojo’s, day Devil May Cry 5 comes out, and now I’m getting to play this, so fairly good day, assuming that it doesn’t bluescreen.  Please don’t bluescreen.  Thank you.  Like, navy screen, but you know, still bad. 

I’m back with Prince of Persia.  Halfway, so I’m curious to see where it’s going to go.  It is downloading & updating, great.  I’m thinking I might get Warrior Within on Vita, just ‘cause it’s easier to play that (no PC port bugs!).  I dunno.  We will see.  And then I have no idea what Two Thrones is on. 

Someday I have to go pick up my DMC5 preorder and go ‘yeah, I’m really looking forward to playing this’ and not talk about the fact that I don’t even have the system yet.  One thing at a time, right? 

I’ve also been writing a lot of Jacob, which might be part of why I have a headache and am kind of tired and stuff because I ended up writing a little later than I was expecting to, but I had some vibes, y’know? Had to act. 

Uhh, restart previous session.  It’s still updating.  Whooo.  I just wanna play.  But I’ve heard that’s one of the issues with Steam, honestly.  ‘You wanna play something?  Well, okay, but you have to have Steam (running).’  Uhh.  It doesn’t work. It doesn’t work, people.  Ummm. 

Oh, yeah, this one skipped a track.  We’ll never know what that one was. Well, I suppose it serves as a good test if the speakers are at the right volume.  Wonder if that’s what people use prestreaming music for, other than ‘don’t let people get bored’. 

Hopefully this won’t take all that long.  Hopefully.  Gaaaaame.  Steeeaaaaam. 

(ad) Go away febreze, you suck, and you’re made of formaldehyde and other things that hurt.  That’s another thing.  We got some shirts that had formaldehyde—I swear, they used five cans, and it really hurt my throat—actually, that would probably explain the sore throat, huh? 

I’m going to pause it, because this might take a while.  (sigh) maannn.  I mean, if this actually was a stream I could read people’s comments, but… 

That was like, 10 minutes. Whoooo.  I’m going to turn this down just a bit.  Hey, Controller Companion, work.  Did I not launch Controller Companion?  Please work.  It’s got the game.  Uuuhhh, what is happening?  Come on, please.  Please? 

This because Steam updated?  Steam, whatchu doin?  It’s not even wanting me to hit general controller settings. …It’s working here.  It does recognize it in Big Picture mode.  Maybe I have to restart it?  234 hours of Controller Companion, probably because I forgot it running sometimes. 

Oh, now it’s just the black screen, that’s good.  Guys, this is going well.  Real well. Can I please play?  I’d love to play.  Could you let me play please?  Oh boy.  Controller Companion says it’s on.  Ummm.  What is even happening?  Maybe a refresh? 

Back to loading music.  Help me.  Steam dualshock stop working.  Settings.  Where is the sort by time?  Okay, yeah, that’s…  oh boy.  Fine, I’ll try something different.  I’ll see if I can’t log in to Secret World Legends briefly (because that game is insane to play sans controller) and see if that doesn’t work.  If it’s that, it’s that the Workshop profile stopped working, which I think is what happened last time?  Buuuut. 

I didn’t think about that.  It might have to update.  Boy this is fun.  I guess I’ll report back when it starts working again. 

Well, what I did is I went into Controller Companion, I hit edit (on the relevant profile), I hit apply, and either that or starting to play Secret World and then backing out worked, so…I don’t know, guys.  I really don’t know. 

Where am I—I have to go down?  I vaguely remember this place.  Down again—no, not there, Prince (as he falls to his death).  Really, we’ve done this once.  Thanks, camera, not being able to see is helpful.  Prince, what are you doing?  Pretty sure you grabbed this before.  No?

 Hang on, guys, I don’t entirely remember what I did.  I might actually use up all the sand trying to figure this out.  And also the camera is being entirely unhelpful. 

Uhh.  Jump.  Jump.  No?  Prince, Prince, what is happening?  This was so easy last time.  I’m pretty sure we do have to get here.  Spiderwebs.  Cobwebs. You know, I am going to pause the recording and see what I did last time, because I don’t actually remember and this is getting annoying.  I’ve done this.  It shouldn’t be that hard.

Oh duh.  Apparently I forgot all about this column right here.  I’m going to let myself die, because I wasted a lot of sand on that and it was dumb. 

No, that’s not right; I didn’t fall… [Prince] Right.  You dropped here, you grabbed that, and then you went over to the nice handy column behind us.  That I somehow forgot about.  I am such a dumb. 

It’s okay, Prince.  We got Sands of Time.  We can survive this.

Can you jump off that way…noope.  I guess we jump off behind us in the other direction.  Not that way.  That’s not the other direction, in fact. 

There we go.  I still kind of wasted some Sands but it’s fine. 

And now for the fun part, jumping.  …Ow?  Hey, I got that right.  Seriously?  I might be a tad rusty, Prince.  Might have to try this a couple times.  We’re going to use up all of it just on this part.  Sheesh. 

Well, we have no more Sands, Prince.  That’s not how it happened. [Prince] Don’t look at me.
