Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Game Review/Commentary 21

I’m probably used to—Can I jump you?  I can at least jump you, which is good.

Ow.  People hurt.

Thank you for contributing more sand to the cause of Shadow Yosuke and the Prince fight.  Can I not actually drink… Oh, this isn’t actually sand.  That is, however, an enemy.

Also, Farah, why did you walk into the room, seriously?

I’ll kick you; it’ll be great. 

Oh, wow, there’s a lot of these people right here.  Wooooowwwww.

I didn’t mean to actually use that, but you know.

As much as it may not seem like it, I also have to remember there’s also other—wheee—things like backflipping.  All this acrobatics fighting is really cool.

Farah.  Farah, you’re fine.  You haven’t turned into a sand creature yet; therefore you’re okay.  Unlike me.  I’m a little hurt.

Actually, if I didn’t lock off the water area yet, Imma go back over there…I don’t honestly know what they lock off but if I could go back I would prefer to.

That looks like water.  But also I don’t trust it, so.  Like, there might be enemies.

I was just…oh, okay.  I was like this wall is impenetrable, what?  But you can’t—you can’t walk out this hole in the wall, really?  If it collapsed behind me, fine, that’s one thing, but…

I didn’t trust the water in front of us.  It could have been a mirage for all we know.  We are in the desert.  Illusions do happen.

By this point Farah thinks I’m completely insane.  Actually, no, maybe not.  I’m not sure she can hear Shadow Yosuke.

It sounds cool.  Oh man.  It sounds so cool.  And it’s dripping from upstairs.  Nice.

So, someone lit candles.  Did you go in front and make it look really romantic in order to steal the dagger?  *unintelligible*

Understand wha—I don’t understand.  Prince, I don’t understand, could you explain?

Are you letting the random whispers—I can wall jump through someone?  I can wall jump into an attack?  You’re serious.  You’re serious.  There are depths to this combat that I—I mean, to be fair, I’m glad.  To be fair, I haven’t tried to use the slowdown at all, so.

The third step is the hardest. (what)

So I can’t actually get up there from here?

Is this the way—this is not in fact the way.  Farah, Farah, get out of my way.  (and we joke about *our* diet.)  Farah—

Oh, I guess that’s actually slightly out of my reach.  Well, what about running up this wall—oh, I can’t actually run up this wall.  And I’m going to guess—okay, yes, this is also wet so I can’t do that.

Farah, Farah, you exist to be in the way, don’t you?  That is your motivation in life.

I could tell you to take the sneaky way up, but I feel like that’s what it wants me to—there’s more water.  There’s just water everywhere.  How do we get to that—oh, hang on.  There’s a—maybe it’s here?   Noooo.

Why can I not grab this?  This looks grabbable.  Prince, work with me here, I’m trying to give us more sand.  How do you get up there?

No, all right, wrong direction.

I think that’s not high.  Dangling a little above you.  That’s good.

There’s a—that probably turns on traps.  You know, like everything does here since—I can’t—

Maybe I’m supposed to come back?  Because there is a doorway over there.

Oh, you have got to be kidding me.  Sensible.

Careful! [Farah]  Yeah, yeah, I got it.

What am I even supposed to be doing here?

There is a crack here.  Does it go all the way ‘round , or…

Okay, that hurt a little but I didn’t fall in the place, er, thing of spikes.  So that’s always a plus.

Aha.  Oh no.  Oops.

This is requiring skills I only somewhat managed to do from the beginning of the game.

Wait, I only have to do it three times so it’s not the worst.

Could you please just keep standing on that, Princess?

Now that I’m up here, what do I do?  Oh, I probably have to do it again.  Look behind me…

Fortunately it does seem like she’s actually just standing on it, so it’s not actually timed.  It’s not—for goodness’ sake, stop jumping into the pit of spikes.  Prince, stop that.

You know, I’m getting better at this jumping thing.  No matter how it may seem.

Just keep standing there, Princess.  This is going to be a while.

I’ve got it so well at this point—at this bottom part…why can I not do it here?

Well, I didn’t fall all the way back down again—I just did.  I just had to say that, didn’t I?

Princess, help me.

Okay, at that point if I—at this point, if I fall, it’s fine.  Ish.  Although I will die eventually.  (As will we all.)  Seriously, why can’t I do this one?  Maybe it’s the crack that’s making me fall, actually.

I might pause the recording because this might take a while and I am having actual problems with this part.  I’ve gotten to the part where the one that took me forever at the beginning would be fine, but this top part I just don’t know.

Hey again, I’m on my way back and I’ve found something.  A crack.  I don’t know where it goes…

I just hope you don’t find scarabs that eat you alive in any of these, despite the fact that you hate me.  Also I hope the fact that me turning on the traps is not gonna be a problem for you.  I’m going to see if I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to do with the last part.

I think what’s messing up my timing is that I keep running—there’s Arabic on the wall.  That’s cool and interesting.  I don’t think I can get a picture of it, though, because none of it’s working.  I’m pretty sure I keep running into the cracks where my fingerholds are but I don’t know how to avoid that so I’ll see if I can’t look it up.
