Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Game Review/Commentary 19

Wait, no, am I supposed to run over there?  Was that a warning?  (maybe.  Still not sure on source of visions.)

I’m aware I have no health.  Stop telling me.

I can hear lions.  Farah, I can hear lions.  They don’t sound friendly.

Am I actually stuck?  No.  Was I…I was running into palm leaves.  Palm leaves are not fixed, solid, immovable objects.

Oh good.  Enemies with no health.  This is gonna go well.

Enemies with no health.  Enemies with no health and no sand.

Stop hitting the wall; this is where the bird is gonna demolish you.

The bird carried me to its death.  We both fell forever.  It was actually a Balrog.

Yes, I have very little health, and I’d love to get to that water, because it’s too high up, because (mumbled nonsense).

Oh, right, I lost some of those sands trying to wallrun the bridge that was not a thing.

You probably can’t climb trees.  That’s probably it.

Legit, I have no health.

This is one of those games… No! [Farah]

That was stupid, and probably cost us this run, fyi, Prince.

Oh, there were only two of them.  That’s not actually terrible.  I thought there were more.

Why would I be up here if it was useless?  This ledge has to lead somewhere.

I got an extra sand tank!  That’s exciting.

/sings I’m aware that I have no health.  Will you please stop talking to me about it?  That is a waterfall.  Please let me drink it.  Please.  Pleaaaaase?

Well, that was a terrible idea.  Note to self, they can actually knock you off of ledges.

Of course they have to throw birds at me nearby the safe water.

Prince, we have gotten water.  We are just about to lose all of our health again.  That’s just how this thing works.

Ohh, trees, pretty!

Oh, great.  No, this might be where I fall to my death.  Prophecy is a weird thing.

No, let’s not do that.  ‘Tis a silly place.

Okay, that’s not actually where I die, or I averted prophecy.  One of the two.

I do like how the rotation (of the levers) is actually a rotation.

Come on. [Farah] You say that, but that’s where I die.

I guess I die by tree.

I can look over here, but I don’t think there’s an easy way down from here.

I can always try it.  (screaming) No.  No, that’s not in fact a ledge I can grab.  (rewind)

I didn’t know you could slide far enough down to die.  I was not in fact aware that you could do that.

No, that’s not right. [Prince] No it’s not.  How am I supposed to—really?

Okay, yeah, it does look like I’m supposed to fall down there somehow.

Princess…I don’t know what I’m doing.  It might surprise you, but I don’t actually know what I’m doing.  It may seem like I do, because I’ve had this conversation before, but I don’t.

That time the bird didn’t even have to do anything.  I just fell of my own accord.  And I did the same exact thing.

This might be a failed run, Prince.  This is, in fact, a failed run.  We are dead.

We did it! [Farah] Princess, could you preemptively shoot those birds?

Also, what time is it?  1:19.  Why wouldn’t it be 1:19.  Next save spot we see, Princess…that’s where the story is gonna end for the day.

Great, the invincible impassible palm leaf.  Why they don’t use those for their security system I’ll never know.

Why would you face that direction and jump off?  I didn’t even hit anything.

I don’t even remember how to do it at this point.  This must be what it is like to be Okarin.  I have lived these last however long so many times I don’t actually remember what happened.  It’s a strange situation, I know.  I will never stop forgetting about the invincible palm leaf, though.  (immovable, really.)

I accidentally just used both of those.

If we could start again with more health, I’d appreciate that.  I don’t know how we’d do that, but it’s your story.  You can tell it how you want.  You could go, “I’d rather not hug that tree…”  I mean, we both know what happens after you hug that tree, so I can’t even blame you, but you have to hug the tree at some point.

Here it comes.  And somehow, you’d think hitting them would be doable, but no.

Maybe put yourself in the other corner, because what we’re doing isn’t working.  Or maybe use the dagger.  Actually, let’s try using the dagger, because I haven’t actually tried that yet.  And we didn’t have a lot of those white crescent moon things.  I guess I’m wondering if using the dagger would be less moving me forward…no.

I may maneuver myself into a corner here.

I may give up on the checkpoint and lose that progress, because I’m really low on health.  How did I get through it the first time?  Not my proudest moment.

Prince has decided he’s just not gonna climb the tree. 

Seriously, how did I manage that the first time with as little health as I do?  I seriously think that it’s impossible with how much health I’ve got.

You know, let’s come back to this tomorrow.  I need more health for this section.

I played two more hours today.  Yeah, that sounds about right, really.  Two hours and nine minutes, probably (from recorder)
