Chapter Summary: Xander has a few complaints.

“You are never driving again,” Giles states when his voice is actually steady enough to speak.
“Aw, come on, I wasn’t that bad.” Xander laughs, like that was a joke.
Buffy smiles and pats him on the back. “Just a hint, Mr. Half-Demon. Some of us happen to be mortal.”
He winces. “I was that bad, wasn’t I?”
“Just a little.” Buffy’s so much more cheerful now that she’s not cooped up in a hotel with nothing to do. “How do you go about these things?”
“Ask a lot of questions, make a nuisance of myself, eventually get demons coming after me, kill demons. Maybe the occasional devil.” He shrugs. “I’m not planning on changing it up all too much with you two here.”
“I think we can be just a little more methodical,” Giles disagrees disapprovingly.
He grins, a daredevil in pretty much every sense of the word. “Well, for this one, I had you wear your best clothes because we’re planning on sneaking in as the household help. It’s easier to not be noticed as the ‘help’. If it’d been just me, I could probably have pulled off a Hawaiian shirt and no one would even have noticed, but since the two of you are here and I’m not sure how far away I can tap into the Shard of Night anyway…”
He’s cleaned up a little himself. He’s not wearing the jacket, and the shirt is rumpled and probably been on the floor, but it’s still not his usual leather ensemble.
“Just to warn you, my powers aren’t absolute. Other supernatural creatures do tend to notice when you ask questions, even if they don’t understand the full extent of what’s going on.” He looks thoughtful, biting his lip and staring into the distance. “It’s not like I have true invisibility or anything like that. Mine is the ability to ‘cloud men’s minds’.” It sounds like he’s quoting something. “I can convince them not to notice me or you or things that we do, but there’s a limit, particularly since I’m half human.”
“I’ve seen a few shows with maids,” Buffy states dismissively, half to make Giles sigh and clean his glasses. It’s entirely successful.
“There’s usually a tray of food to grab and walk around. If you find anything useful, or are going to get in trouble, find me. Don’t get in too much trouble, G-man,” Xander suggests cheerfully, waves, and disappears.
