Devil May Questionnaire, Part II

Orange - What are some of your comfort foods?
Grilled cheese.  When Will’s dad was home, he’d make the most amazing grilled cheese with pepperjack and cayenne, and we loved it.  It was a race to see who could eat it the fastest, even if our mouths were on fire.  We’d usually end up laughing and crying and it was hilarious.  (We’d usually have to have ice cream afterward, which might’ve been part of the appeal.)  It was clear Jesse thought it was disgusting, but he’d try anyway, like a dare.  It’s the only thing Willow actually knows how to make.
For a few weeks when I was seven I had a babysitter, Maya.  Figured out later she was Japanese.  At the time I just thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world.  I got sick, like, really sick, really high fever and everything, but we didn’t have enough money for me to go to the hospital.  She gave me not chicken noodle but mice soup.  At least, that’s what I thought it was called at the time.  I mentioned I was a little out of it, right?  When Dad—sorry, Stepdad—found out that Mom was spending perfectly good booze money on someone to look after me when she was ‘so useless a woman she didn’t know how to take care of a brat she was selfish enough to inflict on him’, that was the end of that.
I never saw Maya again, but Miso soup (yeah, I messed up the name, big surprise, right?) is a good reminder that someone’s looking after me and cares for me.  I didn’t realize that there were different types, but yellow miso is the one I’d had.  The others are good, but they’re not the same.
‘Course, I didn’t have it again for a while, because it’s not exactly like they sell that stuff in your average Sunnydale grocery store (of which there are two that hate each other’s guts).  I asked sirma’am GhostChef about it, and at first heshe was really offended and then when heshe figured it out just laughed and laughed.  (Come to think of it, I haven’t asked how heshe knows all these contemporary recipes, or at least more than just what heshe would’ve been making when this place was open.  That’s…interesting.  Is there a ghost internet?  …Ghostnet?)
Oatmeal, cereal, pancakes, eggs, bacon.  Breakfast, really.  I didn’t always get an actual breakfast, not even just cereal.  Sometimes I was running late, sometimes we spent money on other things.

Spice - Do you like to cook? Do you cook often?
I’d love to cook, but I haven’t tried too much, and don’t entirely know how.  Also, I haven’t really had a conversation with the hotel chef ghost about it, so I’m not sure how they’d feel about it.  Still, sirma’am lets Buffy do it, but on the other hand Buffy’s actually good at it.  Don’t know if I am.

Tangerine - What is your favorite fruit?
Strawberries.  Kinda vanilla, I know.  Strawberries and vanilla are even better.

Peach - Are you generally a more gentle and soft spoken person or a louder and rougher person? 
Depends on circumstances.  I’m generally gentle with my clients, and my family, depending, but if you’re an enemy you’ll bet I’m trash-talking you.  I don’t tend to mince words, though I do try to avoid upsetting clients or my friends if I can help it (in other words, if it crosses my mind.)

Squash - Do you live in an agricultural setting?  If so, are you a farmer or something of the sort? What kind of crops do you grow?
Nah, though it’d be super cool to grow my own stuff.  Like tomatoes.  For pizza.  That’d be totally cool.

Amber - Do you wield any sort of superpower? If so, what is it?
Obviously.  I’m half devil.  I’ve got really great reflexes, can recover from being stabbed in the chest pretty quickly, and have better than average strength.  I don’t have to eat or sleep as much as your average human, but I like it, so I do anyway.  I can tame devils and demons and form Devil Arms.  I can also Devil Trigger, turning into my devil form, which is even stronger, faster, and regenerates even further.  Given that I’m the son of Syuvai, a Shadow Devil (Pasharan), I can also use your average Shadow powers—I don’t have to be noticed, if I don’t want to be.  The Shard of Night, a non-combat Devil Arm, can be used to amplify my powers, so I can use that to cover the hotel and my friends, which is good, because we all are kind of hiding from people.  I…might honestly misuse this to acquire things, but I don’t exactly have all the money for stuff.  (There’s some weird thing about them getting good luck for that in exchange.)  I don’t really feel heat or cold, but that can be kinda sad too.  I’ll never need hot cocoa after shoveling the sidewalk, for example.  I briefly got a taste of it when I lost my powers, and wow, that’s weird.  I don’t fully remember what it was like before my powers awakened, just like it’s a half dream.  (Apparently that’s pretty normal.)  I do tend to run a little cooler than humans normally.  Which is…interesting.  (Freaked Willow out, the first couple of times.  Freaked me out, too, given, y’know, vampires.  Then I got used to it.)

Honey - Have you ever considered marrying someone? What is your opinion on marriage in general? 
Marriage can be good, although there’s the chance to be cynical from all the detective agency stuff we do.  Kryvi tells me that Devils (not demons), have ‘mates’.  Not Soulmates; it’s not like you’re destined to be with someone.  Your own choices determine whether someone ends up being your mate or not.  It’s a bunch of moments culminating in a final choice, which I guess is an equivalent of marriage.  Even then, it’s flexible.  Apparently his mate abandoned him for a chaos demon, like, two hundred years ago.

Sandstone - Who in your life has been the most healing for you?
It’s somewhere between the girls and Kryvi.  Both have given me more than just a reason to survive.  They’ve given me a reason to live.  A way for me to feel good about myself.

Rust - Have you thought about becoming old? Can you become old? Are you scared of being old? What do you think about elders? 
Yeah.  I’m not entirely certain if I can, at this point, and have thought about the fact that I might end up dead before I even get to that point.  I’m not sure how half-devils age.  I’d be upset if I was helpless, so I guess that’s a problem I’ll worry about in the future.  Elders can be useful and knowledgeable, so yeah, they’re cool.  If I can still fight I wouldn’t worry about it.

Pumpkin - What is your favorite part of Autumn? (If that exists in your world)
Halloween.  We hung out in the town’s various graveyards all the time, so it’s not like that changed, and then there’s costumes and candy, and it was, even though we didn’t realize it consciously at the time, the only time the spooky wouldn’t kill us cold.  If that’s not specific enough, I like the specific Autumn flavors.  Here in Colorado the leaves changing colors and the slight breeze are also cool.

Jumpsuit - Have you ever been arrested/in trouble with authority?
Multiple occasions, though at least Alisha likes me.  Her new partner, not so much.  He has it in for me, but I’m pretty sure he’s jealous.  Jealousy…y’know, I get it.  Demons are jealous and possessive, too.  I try to reign it in—most of the time, it’s just ‘play nice with my toys or else’.  Not that, y’know, the girls are mine, but.  They are my friends.  I’m totally cool with sharing them.  Only if you’re good, though.

Bronze - What is your favorite way to warm up when it’s cold?
I don’t really get cold, as mentioned earlier.  I always like to have hot chocolate, even in the middle of the summer, and after Alisha helped me out, I wear the fuzzy warm jacket she got me all the time when I’m just chilling out.  I can’t feel the cold, but I can feel the different textures, and comfort is nice.
