you know what makes 900% more sense than the red matter creating black holes? the red matter just distorts time.
it's like...concentrated tachyons or something. what it did to Vulcan was it just rewound time to before the planet
existed, in that relative area. any vulcans on the planet were deaged out of existence. the thing with Romulus? they
didn't know what was going on. the red matter actually showed up around Romulus, and Spock's future ship was made both to contain and study it. have Number One explain this to Kirk along with the issue--they don't know where it came from. yes it was probably an attack on Romulus, but according to Ambassador Spock they don't actually know who would want to attack or why. none of romulus's enemies or for that matter any race known to the Federation had that tech or reported the existence of red matter. the space-time distortion creates an enormous gravity well.
