         William knows better than to report his current situation to the Council.  If they didn’t have agents dealing with crises on the other side of the world, he knows he’d have to answer for his behavior anyway.  Possibly in an assassin-like way.
         Of all the choices of the fanged kind, the Hyena’s not a bad one.  He has the unusual situation boasting of the lowest death count of any Master Vampire.  An observation by a Watcher in the early 1900s suggested Ripper was unhappy with him for ‘playing with his food’.  Unlike his sire, Buffy, he didn’t attempt to kill any Slayer.  Instead, he played a sort of ‘blood tag’, scarring or otherwise marking the Slayer and taking one of their prized possessions as a trophy.  He’d actually killed more vampires than humans—any fledges that made fun of him for being a ‘sissy boy’ had their limbs ripped off one by one and then were left for the sun.
         Chaos Mage Warren had honestly been worse, because he’d only ever cared about himself.  Xander honestly cared, even if he was straightforward, honest, and frankly on occasion amoral in his love, but it was also, in some ways, pure.  He had the spice of danger that frankly William missed, having given up his warlock ways to become a boring Watcher, but also wanted to protect the world and humans.  For utterly selfish reasons, true, but he also was a fighter for good.
